Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and equipment with new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To upgrade item s, players must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.
Items that have weak bases, such as rings, can be upgraded into more robust bases. Items with bases that are strong, such as eth Titans have little changes in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus or extra effect, while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, or found as loot by enemies, or obtained from chests or missions. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain level before they are upgraded.
To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, players will need to select it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade stats will be as well as the component or material needed for the upgrade to take place.
There are three types of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be placed in any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment, are the same as gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding a Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and replaces the glyphs with a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, excluding inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important changes from previous versions. Gear is now classified into tracks and each item is able to be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, but the materials required do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a few essential items and maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the cost of upgrades across several items.
When an item is leveled out in this way, it is eligible for a new set of upgrade components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if the upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to receive affixes that will boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's base type. For instance, a rare or unique weapon with a normal base will have no more than two affixes available for it, whereas a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade process requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level, and in which slot it is in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item does not reach its maximum level, the NPC offers the player the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a new set or upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of materials however it will result in lower chances of success.
To measure the height of a structure engineers utilize an instrument to compare the measurement against a known reference point such as a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and level and then turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method guarantees that the buildings are constructed with a high degree of precision and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial element of the game that can boost the damage, strength or other attributes. This can be accomplished through the item menu or clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be done sparingly.
Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items come with a gauge that shows the amount of upgrade. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level filled.
Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes that made them more accessible for players to roll. It meant that you'd get the most crucial stats for your build more frequently than other items. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for all stats. This can be either good or bad, depending on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can be equipped with a special bonus that increases the power of the item by a set percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to normal affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the higher the chance of receiving the bonus of your choice.
The game also features various sets which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on a unit. This is a good method to give the character more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players reroll their weapons and gear particularly in the beginning stages. Rerolling is a method to gain a stronger character quicker, which enables you to progress in the game and attain higher levels.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be organized in different ways. They could be of various sizes, have none of the elements, or contain one element. They can be used to organize data or sort information. They are also useful in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways in terms of size and shape.
There are a range of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, others are not. Armor sets with high defense values or set bonuses are usually worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades aren't as effective in improving stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you have many weapons or armor pieces already.
Set items can be upgraded to include special procs that are useful for certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. ( item upgrader and Level requirements were also increased).
Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items up to par with the tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower level items can improve their defense, and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button in the character screen. This will display the item's attributes, along with the required items to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also verify the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, weapons and armor are more valuable when they are fully updated. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related, upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will provide a significant improvement in their stats. The armor that has a new appearance will benefit from this upgrade because its defense will increase as it moves from purple to gold.
