In our study, an Italian version of the PMOS-30 questionnaire was used to evaluate its feasibility and to improve health care quality in an Italian hospital.
A cross-sectional study was conducted with 435 inpatients at a hospital in the Campania Region of Southern Italy using the PMOS-30 questionnaire and two other questions to assess patient feedback about the overall perception of safety.
The item "I was always treated with dignity and respect" showed the greatest percentage of agreement (agree/strongly agree = 89.2%; mean = 4.24). The least agreement was associated with the four "Staff Roles and Responsibilities" items (agree/strongly agree ranged from 31.5 to 40.0%; weighted mean = 2.84). All other 25 items had over 55.0% agreement, with 19 items over 70%. Moreover, 94.5% of the patients considered the safety of the ward sufficient/good/very good, and 92.8% did not notice situations that could cause harm to patients.
Patient perception of safety was found to be satisfactory. The results were presented to the hospital decision makers for suggesting appropriate interventions. Our experience showed that the use of the PMOS-30 questionnaire may improve safety and health care quality in hospital settings through patient feedback.

Forty-five patients with facial neuritis who underwent temporal bone MR imaging, including T1 BB-FSE and CE-GRE imaging, were examined. Two reviewers independently assessed the T1 BB-FSE and CE-GRE images in terms of diagnostic performance, and qualitative (diagnostic confidence and visual asymmetric enhancement) and quantitative analysis (contrast-enhancing lesion extent of the canalicular segment of the affected facial nerve (LEC) and the affected side-to-normal signal intensity ratio (rSI)). The AUCs of each reviewer, and the sensitivity and accuracy of T1 BB-FSE were significantly superior to those of CE-GRE (p less then 0.05). Regarding diagnostic confidence and visual asymmetric enhancement, T1 BB-FSE tended to be rated greater than CE-GRE (p less then 0.05). Additionally, in quantitative analysis, LEC and rSI of the canalicular segment on T1 BB-FSE were larger than those on CE-GRE (p less then 0.05). The T1 BB-FSE sequence was significantly superior to the CE-GRE sequence, with more conspicuous lesion visualization in terms of both qualitative and quantitative aspects in patients with facial neuritis. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the sensitivity advantage of intradermal dilutional testing (IDT) is clinically relevant in patients with obstructive Eustachian tube dysfunction (ETD) or otitis media with effusion (OME). This retrospective, private-practice cohort study compared the sensitivity of skin prick tests (SPT) vs. IDT in 110 adults and children with suspected allergy and OME. Primary outcome measure was symptom resolution from allergy immunotherapy (AIT). IDT identified 57% more patients as being allergic, and 8.6 times more reactive allergens than would have been diagnosed using only SPT. Patients diagnosed by IDT had the same degree of symptom improvement from immunotherapy, independent of allergen sensitivity (66% by SPT vs. 63% by IDT; p = 0.69, not different). Low-sensitivity allergy tests, which may fail to identify allergy in over two thirds of children aged 3 to 15 as being atopic, or among 60% of patients with ETD, may explain why many physicians do not consider allergy as a treatable etiology for their patient's OME/ETD. IDT offers superior sensitivity over SPT for detecting allergens clinically relevant to treating OME/ETD. These data strongly support increased utilization of intradermal testing and invite additional clinical outcome studies. There is great demand for high-performance, low-cost electrode materials for anodes of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Herein, we report the recovery of carbon materials by treating waste tire rubber via a facile one-step carbonization process. Electrochemical studies revealed that the waste tire carbon anode had a higher reversible capacity than that of commercial graphite and shows the positive effect of ZnS in the waste tire carbon. When used as the anode for LIBs, waste tire carbon shows a high specific capacity of 510.6 mAh·g-1 at 100 mA·g-1 with almost 97% capacity retention after 100 cycles. click here Even at a high rate of 1 A·g-1, the carbon electrode presents an excellent cyclic capability of 255.1 mAh·g-1 after 3000 cycles. This high-performance carbon material has many potential applications in LIBs and provide an alternative avenue for the recycling of waste tires. The authors wish to make the following corrections to this paper [...].Determining the changes in the urban water footprint (WF) of the Tibetan Plateau is important for sustainable development within this region and in downstream regions. Taking Xining, the largest city on the Tibetan Plateau, as an example, this study quantified the changes in the WF of this region in the 2005-2018 period. We found that Xining's total WF increased by 22.6%, from 8.9 billion to 10.9 billion m3 in this period. The increase in Xining's gray WF (WFgray) resulting from the intensification of urban point-source pollution was the primary cause of the increase in its total WF. Xining's WFgray from point-source pollution increased by 75.3%, from 3.1 billion to 5.4 billion m3. In addition, Xining's WF far surpassed the amount of available water resources (WA) in this region. It is possible to prevent Xining's WF from exceeding its WA only by simultaneously controlling point- and nonpoint-source pollution in the future. Thus, it is recommended that great importance be attached to the rapid increase in the WFgray of the Tibetan Plateau resulting from rapid urbanization and that effective measures be implemented to control point- and nonpoint-source pollution, so as to safeguard sustainable development within the Tibetan Plateau and in downstream regions.
