These existential events affect the women's health and the newborn's care. In this study we used an interpretative ethnographic design. Individual deep interviews with eight Zambian women were carried out. The formation of family, pregnancy and childbirth are important for strengthening generational traditions and preserving culture. Having many children is especially important for Zambian men as it increases their status in the society. Family continuity is related to the legacy of generations through the spirits of the ancestors.We investigated the feasibility of agarose-gel microcapsules to cryopreserve extremely small numbers of sperm for assisted reproductive technology. Semen samples were collected from 16 patients attending the center for reproductive medicine male infertility clinic at a university hospital. We used agarose microcapsules to cryopreserve extremely small numbers of sperm from 16 patients with male infertility (10 with sperm concentration ≥1 million/mL; 6 with sperm concentration less then 1 million/mL). Six spermatozoa were injected into agarose-gel microcapsules and cryopreserved in a liquid nitrogen tank for 7 days. The Crytop method was used for cryopreservation as a control. After thawing, spermatozoa were recovered. Sperm recovery rates, motility and viability, and recovery time were compared.The post-thawing recovery rate, motility rate, and viability rate were higher whereas the recovery time was shorter in samples preserved using the agarose-gel microcapsule method compared to samples preserved using the Cryotop method in both the group with sperm concentrations of 1 million/mL or above and the group with sperm concentrations of less than 1 million/mL. This study demonstrated that using the agarose-gel microcapsule method increased post-thawing sperm recovery rate, sperm motility rate, and sperm viability rate, and reduced sperm recovery time compared with the conventional Cryotop method when cryopreserving samples with low sperm count. Although requiring further study, the agarose-gel microcapsule method shows much promise as a new option for freezing sperm.
The aim of this study was to identify correlates of quality of life (QOL) for socioeconomically disadvantaged cancer patients receiving care in the "safety net" health system.
This cross-sectional study used linear regressions to determine the effect of patient reported outcome measures (PRO) on QOL.Sample/Methods Cancer patients (
 = 115) receiving drug therapy completed a series of PROs including Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy (FACT-G), PROMIS (Anxiety, Depression, Fatigue, Pain Interference, and Physical Function), and the Comprehensive Score for Financial Toxicity.
More than 60% of patients reported an annual income below $24,999. Forty-five percent of patients were either uninsured or county-funded. Depression, pain, and financial toxicity were found to be consistently significant correlates of QOL.Implications Cancer patients with existing financial strain have unique psychosocial stressors. This study provides insight into the relationship between these stressors, and the need for targeted screening and intervention that address such aspects of care.

The study was carried out in two parts. this website Part one assessed relationships between years of wildland firefighting and cardiovascular variables (n = 28). Part two looked at cardiovascular variables pre and post a wildland firefighting season (n = 18). Wildland firefighting may negatively impact cardiorespiratory fitness and arterial health.The ongoing pandemic due to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) caused COVID-19 has emerged as a severe threat to the life of human kind. The identification and designing of appropriate and reliable drug molecule for the treatment of COVID-19 patients is the pressing need of the present time. Among different drug targets, the main protease of SARS-CoV-2 is being considered as most effective target. In addition to the drug repurposing, different compounds of natural as well as synthetic origins are being investigated for their efficacy against different drug targets of SARS-CoV-2 virus. In that context, the chromone based natural flavonols have also exhibited significant antiviral properties against different targets of SARS-CoV-2. The in silico studies presented here discloses the efficacy of triarylchromones (TAC) as potential inhibitor against main protease of SARS-CoV-2. The molecular docking and ADMET study performed using 14 arylchromones which could easily be accessed through simple synthetic protocols, revealed best binding affinities in case of TAC-3 (-11.2 kcal/mol), TAC-4 (-10.5 kcal/mol), TAC-6 (-11.2 kcal/mol), TAC-7 (-10.0 kcal/mol). Additional validation studies including molecular dynamics simulation and binding energy calculation using MMGBSA for protein ligand complex for 100 ns revealed the best binding interaction of TAC-3, TAC-4, TAC-6, TAC-7 against main protease of SARS-CoV-2. Moreover, the in vitro and preclinical validation of identified compounds will help us to understand the molecular mechanisms of regulation of TACs against SARS-CoV-2.Communicated by Ramaswamy H.
