Microarray analysis revealed 2413 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the endometrium treated simultaneously with PGE2 and E2 (P less then 0.01). No significant effect of PGE2 administered alone on endometrial transcriptome was detected. Gene ontology annotations enriched for DEGs were related to multiple processes such as focal adhesion, vascularization, cell migration and proliferation, glucose metabolism, tissue remodeling, and activation of immune response. Simultaneous administration of E2 and PGE2 induced more changes within endometrial transcriptome characteristic to pregnancy than infusion of E2 alone. The present findings suggest that synergistic action of estradiol-17β and PGE2 resembles the effects of pregnancy on endometrial transcriptome better than E2 alone. Many aquatic environments are at risk for oil contamination and alkanes are one of the primary constituents of oil. The alkane hydroxylase (AlkB) is a common enzyme used by microorganisms to initiate the process of alkane-degradation. While many aspects of alkane bioremediation have been studied, the diversity and evolution of genes involved in hydrocarbon degradation from environmental settings is relatively understudied. The majority of work done to-date has focused on the marine environment. Here we sought to better understand the phylogenetic diversity of alkB genes across marine and freshwater settings using culture-independent methods. We hypothesized that there would be distinct phylogenetic diversity of alkB genes in freshwater relative to the marine environment. Our results confirm that alkB has distinct variants based on environment while our diversity analyses demonstrate that freshwater and marine alkB communities have unique responses to oil amendments. Our results also demonstrate that in the marine environment, depth is a key factor impacting diversity of alkB genes.
Previous estimates of the lifetime risk of dementia are restricted to older age groups and may suffer from selection bias. In this study, we estimated the lifetime risk of dementia starting at birth using nationwide integral linked health register data.
We studied all deaths in The Netherlands in 2017 (n = 147866). Dementia was assessed using the cause-of-death registration, individually linked with registers covering long-term care, specialized mental care, dispensed medicines, hospital discharges and claims, and primary care. The proportion of deaths with dementia was calculated for the total population and according to age at death and sex.
According to all data sources combined, 24.0% of the population dies in the presence of dementia. This proportion is higher for females (29.4%) than for males (18.3%). Using multiple causes of death only, the proportion with dementia is 17.9%. Sequential addition of long-term care and hospital discharge data increased the estimate by 4.0 and 1.5%-points, respectively. Further addition of dispensed medicines, hospital claims and specialized mental care data added another 0.6%-points. Among persons who die at age ≤65-70 years, the proportion with dementia is ≤6.2%. After age 70, the proportion rises sharply, with a peak of 43.9% for females and 33.1% for males at age 90-95 years.
Around one-fourth of the Dutch population is diagnosed with dementia at some point in life and dies in the presence of dementia. It is a major challenge to arrange optimal care for this group.

Diet quality is a risk factor for chronic disease and mortality. Differential DNA methylation across the epigenome has been associated with chronic disease risk. Whether diet quality is associated with differential methylation is unknown. This study assessed whether diet quality was associated with differential DNA methylation measured across 445548 loci in the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) and the TwinsUK cohort.
The discovery cohort consisted of 4355 women from the WHI. The replication cohort consisted of 571 mono- and dizygotic twins from the TwinsUK cohort. DNA methylation was measured in whole blood using the Illumina Infinium HumanMethylation450 Beadchip. Diet quality was assessed using the Alternative Healthy Eating Index 2010 (AHEI-2010). A meta-analysis, stratified by study cohort, was performed using generalized linear models that regressed methylation on AHEI-2010, adjusting for cell composition, chip number and location, study characteristics, principal components of genetic relatedness, ageposity, inflammation and dysglycaemia. These findings may provide insight into pathways through which diet influences chronic disease.
Limited data exist comparing clinical outcomes of two-drug regimens (2DRs) and three-drug regimens (3DRs) in people living with HIV.
Antiretroviral treatment-experienced individuals in RESPOND switching to a new 2DR or 3DR from 1/1/12-1/10/18 were included. The incidence of clinical events (AIDS, non-AIDS cancer, cardiovascular disease, end-stage liver and renal disease, death) was compared between regimens using Poisson regression.
Of 9791 individuals included, 1088 (11.1%) started 2DRs and 8703 (88.9%) 3DRs. The most common 2DRs were dolutegravir plus lamivudine (22.8%) and raltegravir plus boosted darunavir (19.8%); the most common 3DR was dolutegravir plus 2 nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (46.9%). this website Individuals on 2DRs were older (median 52.6 years [interquartile range 46.7-59.0] vs 47.7 [39.7-54.3]), and a higher proportion had ≥1 comorbidity (81.6% vs 73.9%).There were 619 events during 27,159 person-years of follow-up (PYFU) 540 (incidence rate [IR] 22.5/1000 PYFU [95% CI 20.7-24.5]) oility of 2DRs is needed.Countries around the world are experiencing a second wave of COVID-19 which is proving to be difficult to control. This report describes the combination of physical distancing, mandatory mask wearing, movement restrictions and enhanced test, trace and isolation efforts that can be used to successfully suppress community transmission to zero.
