The occipital artery arises as one of the main branches of the external carotid artery. The goal of the present meta-analysis was to provide a detailed analysis of the complete anatomy of the occipital artery using the available data in the literature. The main online medical databases such as PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar were used to gather all studies on anatomical variations, course, branches, and the close anatomical area of the occipital artery. A total of 65 studies were indicated, evaluated, and included in this meta-analysis. The occipital artery was found to run in the groove with a prevalence of 83.93% (95% confidence intervals 50.53-100.00%). The occipital artery forming a common trunk with another artery had a prevalence of 13.91% (95% confidence intervals 9.15-19.47%). The mean maximal diameter of the occipital artery was set to 2.26 mm (standard error = 0.15). The mean maximal diameter of the occipital segment of the occipital artery was found to be 1.24 mm (standard error = 0.15). The mean occipital artery length was set to 131.93 mm (standard error = 3.02). In conclusion, the authors of the present study believe that this is the most accurate and up-to-date meta-analysis regarding the anatomy of the occipital artery. To conduct a scoping review across three databases to describe the most frequently reported diagnostic criteria for ExDS, as well as to explore its use as a diagnosis for deaths of individuals in the custody of law enforcement. In 2021, three literature databases were searched Ovid Medline, PsycInfo, and Scopus. Studies were included if they were peer-reviewed, English articles describing (1) ExDS symptoms, (2) substance intoxication with at least 2 ExDS symptoms present, or (3) centering on deaths occurring in the custody of law enforcement and attributed to ExDS. Key study data were extracted and the current literature was described qualitatively. Analysis took place between March and December 2021. A total of 97 studies were identified through initial abstract and secondary full-text review, with noted discrepancies in the definition of ExDS itself. After review, differences in ExDS diagnosis among organizations were explored, along with subsequent clinical impact, particularly in the pre-hospital setting. Resulting impact on patients, particularly those of minoritized ethnic and racial groups, was also noted. Prone aggressive restraint, in particular, is noted as an established risk factor for fatalities in ExDS cases. At this time, ExDS should not be utilized as a diagnosis; major medical organizations have an urgent responsibility to convene to formalize consensus-based diagnostic criteria or to propose alternate management guidelines for agitated and altered persons.
AKT hyperactivation drives malignant phenotypes in lung cancer via promoting tumor cell proliferation and survival. However, the relationship between dysregulation of cell cycle progression and AKT1 kinase activity is still not clear.
Following the expression level of PKMYT1 in lung cancer, we performed cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and xenograft assays to determine the function of PKMYT1. We used RNA-seq to explore the anti-tumor mechanism of PKMYT1 and examined the effect of PKMYT1 on AKT1 activity.
In this study, we report that PKMYT1 is downregulated in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) tissues and its low expression predicts a poor prognosis in LUAD patients. PKMYT1 exerts potent tumor-suppressive functions in LUAD cells by inhibiting AKT1 activation and thereby repressing cell cycle progression, which depends on its tyrosine and threonine protein kinase activity. Interestingly, PKMYT1 could directly bind AKT1 to abrogate AKT1 activation. Moreover, silencing AKT1 and inhibitors targeting the AKT pathway effectively reverse the promoting effects of PKMYT1 knockdown on proliferation, migration and invasion of LUAD cells.

The objective of this study is to determine the concentration of heavy metals (Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, Mn, and Fe) in the surface soil of recycling centers and dumping sites in Lahore, Pakistan, and to quantify and compare the environmental risk. The mean concentration (mg/kg) of Cu, Pb, Zn, and Cd was 722.96, 446.81, 378.76, and 4.11, respectively in the surface soil of recycling centers, and only the mean concentration of Cu (214.09 mg/kg) from dumping sites were above permissible limits of World Health Organization. Results of the geo-accumulation index (Igeo) and contamination factor (Cf) revealed that the surface soil is highly contaminated with Cu, Pb, and Cd. The Cd content (701.24) caused a very high potential ecological risk (Er) (> 320) to nearby biological communities. The noncarcinogenic risk was only expected from Pb to children (1.70) living near recycling centers, whereas no risk was observed for adults living either near recycling centers (0.23) or dumping sites (0.01). There is a high probability of carcinogenic health risks to children (1.085 × 10-2) and adults (1.195 × 10-3) from Cu. Hence, all the results suggest that e-waste recycling and dumping activities were a significant source of heavy metals to the surrounding environment, children, and adults, so it is strongly recommended to take action for sustainable management of e-waste.
We reviewed the effects of hypertension and the means to prevent and treat it across the spectrum of a woman's lifespan and identified gaps in sex-specific mechanisms contributing to hypertension in women that need to be addressed.

There remain racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic differences in hypertension rates not only overall but also between the sexes. Blood pressure cutoffs during pregnancy have not been updated to reflect the 2017 ACC/AHA changes due to a lack of data. Additionally, the mechanisms behind hypertension development in menopause, including sex hormones and genetic factors, are not well understood. In the setting of increasing inactivity and obesity, along with an aging population, hypertension rates are increasing in women. Screening and management of hypertension throughout a women's lifespan are necessary to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease, and further research to understand sex-specific hypertension mechanisms is needed.

It causes the patient to incur a great deal of malady. Even with the advances in management and the Stupp protocol in place, the prognosis remains grim. There are various parameters to evaluate patients' performance status and frailty pre-operatively, but these are mostly subjective and thus suffer from inter-observer variability. Assessment of sarcopenia serves as an objective parameter to assess the patient's performance status pre-operatively. Temporalis muscle thickness serves as a surrogate to assess sarcopenia in patients with glioblastoma. We conducted a literature review and meta-analysis to determine the prognostic implications of temporalis muscle thickness in 3283 patients with primary glioblastoma. The pooled overall survival hazard's ratio of thick versus thin TMT was 0.54. The pooled progression-free survival hazard's ratio of thick versus thin TMT was 0.38. Thus, the main finding of this study is that thicker temporal muscle is associated with better OS and PFS as compared to thinner temporal muscle. We thus conclude that TMT is a viable surrogate for predicting sarcopenia and survival in primary glioblastoma. TMT measurement is extremely easy and can be incorporated as a part of the routine neurosurgical workflow in these patients. Survival prediction will help inform treatment decisions in glioblastoma patients having poor prognosis, at the initial diagnosis itself.There are > 18 distinct disease-modifying therapy (DMT) options covering 10 mechanisms of action currently approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). Given the multitude of available treatment options, and recent international consensus guidelines offering differing recommendations, there is broad heterogeneity in how the DMTs are used in clinical practice. Choosing a DMT for newly diagnosed patients with MS is currently a topic of significant debate in MS care. Historically, an escalation approach to DMT was used for newly diagnosed patients with RRMS. However, the evidence for clinical benefits of early treatment with high-efficacy therapies (HETs) in this population is emerging. In this review, we provide an overview of the DMT options and MS treatment strategies, and discuss the clinical benefits of HETs (including ofatumumab, ocrelizumab, natalizumab, alemtuzumab, and cladribine) in the early stages of MS, along with safety concerns associated with these DMTs.
