To summarize the role of prostate MRI in the assessment and treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and associated lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).
BPH/LUTS is a very common source of morbidity in aging men. mpMRI has become an increasingly popular modality for prostate imaging due to its ability to provide exceptional anatomic detail. This has allowed for MRI classification of BPH and detailed assessment of response to various BPH treatment modalities, including simple prostatectomy and transurethral resection of the prostate as well as newer methods like UroLift and prostatic artery embolization. MRI will continue to be a useful tool in the diagnosis and management of BPH/LUTS and provides useful information about the efficacy of a variety of available treatment options. Further studies are needed to fully characterize the effects of newer BPH interventions on mpMRI.

There is a need for bedside methods to monitor oxygen delivery in the microcirculation. Near-infrared spectroscopy commonly measures tissue oxygen saturation, but does not reflect the time-dependent variability of microvascular hemoglobin content (MHC) that attempts to match oxygen supply with demand. The objective of this study is to determine the feasibility of MHC monitoring in critically ill patients using high-resolution near-infrared spectroscopy to assess perfusion in the peripheral microcirculation.
Prospective observational cohort of 36 patients admitted within 48h at a tertiary intensive care unit. Perfusion was measured on the quadriceps, biceps, and/or deltoid, using the temporal change in optical density at the isosbestic wavelength of hemoglobin (798nm). Continuous wavelet transform was applied to the hemoglobin signal to delineate frequency ranges corresponding to physiological oscillations in the cardiovascular system.
31/36 patients had adequate signal quality for analysis, most commonl suggest this novel hemodynamic metric should be further evaluated for diagnosing microvascular dysfunction and monitoring peripheral perfusion.In response to the coronavirus pandemic, several countries have imposed curfews, quarantines, and lockdowns to restrict the spread of the infection among people. India had initiated a nationwide lockdown to combat the pandemic starting from the last week of March until the end of May 2020. But, the lockdown had continued subsequently in several red zones across parts of the country for few months. However, scientists have criticized the government's abrupt lockdown since it prevented people from preparing for the worst aftermath. Besides, the curfews have blocked millions of impoverished migrant workers from leaving cities to return to their homes in distant rural villages. As a result, the destitute workers have endured enormous hardship and outright discrimination desolately leading to their added physical and mental distress, pain, suffering, and death. Most of the victims of the lockdown have belonged to the economically distressed lower social classes of the Indian caste hierarchy. This article outlines their sufferings triggered by the long drawn-out lockdown episode.
Early vascular aging syndrome (EVAS) is defined as increased arterial stiffness compared to age and sex matched patients, EVAS is measured by pulse wave velocity (PWV).
In our study we aim to identify in patients with high risk of EVAS using the CHADS2, CHA2DS2-VASc, and CHA2DS2-VASc-HS scores.
The CHADS2, CHA2DS2-VASc-HS and CHADS2VASC scoring systems are advised to determine management strategies in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation. As they contain similar risk factors for the development or presence of EVAS, we believed that this risk scoring system could also be used to predict EVAS. This study was designed as a retrospective observational study. 2108 consecutive patients who had undergone 24-h blood pressure monitoring and measured PWV levels were included in the study. The patients were divided into the two groups according to corrected Pwv values.
CHADS2, CHA2DS2-VASc, and CHA2DS2-VASc-HS scores were positively correlated with PWV values (r =0.251, p < 0.001; r = 0.457, p < 0.001; and r = 0.385, p < 0.001, respectively). CHA2DS2-VASc-HS score was statistically better than CHA2DS2, CHA2DS2-VASc score to predict early vascular aging syndrome (p < 0.001). For the prediction of EVAS, the cut-off value of CHA2DS2-VASc-HS score was ≥ 1.5 with a sensitivity of 49% and a specificity of 50 % (AUC 0.605; 95% [CI] 0.58-0.63) in the ROC curve analyses.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play an essential regulatory role in tumorigenesis and development. In this study, NB miRNA and mRNA expression profile data in the Gene Expression Omnibus database were used to screen for differentially expressed miRNAs (DEMs) and genes (DEGs). We used the miRTarBase and miRSystem databases to predict the target genes of the DEMs, and we selected target genes that overlapped with the DEGs as candidate genes for further study. Annotations, visualization, and the DAVID database were used to perform Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis on the candidate genes. Additionally, the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network and miRNA-mRNA regulatory network were constructed and visualized using the STRING database and Cytoscape, and the hub modules were analyzed for function and pathway enrichment using the DAVID database and BiNGO plug-in. 107 DEMs and 1139 DEGs were identified from the miRNA and mRNA chips, respectively.
