About Toto
The band Toto was formed in the year 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also well-known studio musicians who worked with Boz Scaggs at the time) as well as bassist/singer Bobby Kimball. Taking their name from the Latin word meaning "all encompassing," the group was determined to explore all styles of music.
In 1981 Toto's third album Turn Back is a failure however, they bounce back with their fourth release Isolation that features two hits including the title track and Roseanna. The album and tour made Toto a household name across the world.
After a short hiatus, Toto returns with the album Fahrenheit. The album is different from the ballads of previous albums and includes some heavy rock. This was their first platinum album in North America.
In the course of recording the fifth album the group loses their manager and is faced with financial problems. They decide to change their name and create a new album with the new producer. The lead vocalist Fergie Frederiksen leaves the band and is replaced by Joseph Williams, son of legendary film composer John Williams and 1950s actress Barbara Ruick. Joseph Williams is a natural frontman and gives the band much-needed boost.
In 1999, the band releases Mindfields and begins an extensive worldwide tour. After a few months in Europe they travel to Japan where the shows are sold out. After a short break, Toto resumes recording and continues to record their first live album entitled Absolutely Live in 1993 which includes a cover of Weezer's song Hash Pipe in response to the band performing their hit song Africa on the recent tour. Toto's touring lineup includes drummer Lenny Castro and bassist Shannon Forrest, as well as keyboardist Shem Von Schroeck.

The first toto album was the self-titled Toto which was released in 1978. It was a huge success that helped the band gain international fame. Since then, the band has released 14 albums that have all been a hit.
Toto composed their first and only movie score in 1984 for the film Dune. This was a major project that required the entire band to be involved. 안전놀이터 that followed, Kingdom of Desire, was another record that was a huge success. After a world tour, drummer Bobby Kimball left the band and was replaced by drummer Fergie Frederiksen, who was a member of Le Roux. The band continued to release their fifth studio album, Isolation. The album featured a number of songs including "Stranger in Town".
After Isolation, Toto took a break from the spotlight and went on hiatus. This gave each member of the group the chance to pursue their own solo projects. In 1996, the band reformed for a tour and an album. It was the first time in over a decade that all the original members were on stage.
The next year, Toto toured with Ringo Starr's All Starr Band. This was the last time that all of Toto's original members were performing at the same time. The band broke up following this. However, Toto reunited in 2010 to perform a benefit for the ALS Foundation. 안전놀이터 was the first time all the original Toto members appeared on stage together in over 31 years. With a variety of influences, ranging from progressive rock to world beats to jazz and soul The group continues to delight fans with their anthemic arena rock.
The band was hit with several setbacks throughout their final years, despite their acclaim. In 2002 the drummer Greg Phillinganes left the group, and keyboardist David Paich took a leave of absence due to health reasons. Drummer Shem von Schroeck stepped in and the band was not the same without Paich and Phillinganes. In 2008, Toto decided to take a break from touring after a string lineup changes and a disappointing series of releases. The group returned to the road in 2012 after the release of the album 40 Trips Around The Sun.
The album was a return to form for the group and the tour was accompanied it with sold-out shows across North America and Europe. Toto's reunion gained momentum with the return of bassist Shem Von Schroeck and guitarist Steve Lukather.
