Keys
There are rumors that you can reprogram the Mercedes key, but this isn't the case. The key is programmed "for for the rest of time" and once it's programmed to one car it will never work with another. The metal beam of the key has a unique shape, which is what the Mercedes system detects and only recognizes. The keys for the truck that are blank are different in shape and therefore will not function in the system.

If you have an authorized representative or delegate pick up the keys on your behalf they must provide all of the above documentation as well as a signed and dated letter of authorisation from the owner. The authorized representative or delegate must bring the vehicle into the dealership to pick up the keys. Contact the dealer if have any concerns. They are happy to help. They will let you know whether they have the key on hand or need to make an appointment with Mercedes for a fresh key that is compatible with your vehicle.
Remotes
In certain MERCEDES vehicles the remote key is equipped with a touch screen that displays virtual buttons. When the remote key is pressed, infrared signals are sent to control devices. A graphical interface program can be used to program the screen. The "buttons" on the screen are actually images that represent the components of electronic circuits. They include capacitors, resistors inductors, potentiometers transistors, diodes, integrated circuits and switches.
If you place your keys in the boot, it may be difficult to get them out of the truck without damaging the door and the Mercedes-Benz lock cylinder. It is possible to use a rope that has a slip-knot to hook the lock and then pull it out, however, this isn't completely safe. You may need try it several times or even call a locksmith or roadside assistance service to help open the vehicle without causing damage.
VOLVO truck key has a panel that is removed to store the batteries. The panel is a light brown color, with white writing to indicate the type of battery that should be used (UM-4/AAA). It also features an Plus sign and a Minus sign indents to indicate the direction the spring coils of the battery should be placed when installing the batteries.
Keyless Entry System
SmartKeys include Keyless Go unlock or start your car even when you don't have the key. This is achieved by with a technique called passive entry and go. The SmartKeys come with an RFID chip that allows the vehicle's computer to identify a driver when it detects the key at close range.
The key transmits low-frequency signals that are picked up inside and outside the door handles. If the transmission matches ID on the PASE module (Passive Access and Security Electronics) the system will allow that the key act as a passkey to operate the vehicle.
These systems are designed to prevent "replay attacks" which could permit a hacker to record and replay control signals and then use them to gain access to a car or building. To stop this from happening, a specially designed algorithm ensures that each transmission transmitted by the keyfob is different from previous ones. This means that if someone records one of these transmissions, and then attempts to duplicate it, the car's PASE module will be alerted and deny access.
