Agomelatine has been shown to be effective in the treatment of depression, but the molecular mechanisms underlying its antidepressant effects have yet to be elucidated. Identification of these molecular mechanisms would not only offer new insights into the basis for depression but also provide the foundation for the development of novel treatments for this disorder.

The current method to evaluate the autonomic balance after renal denervation (RDN) relies on heart rate variability (HRV). However, parameters of HRV were not always predictive of response to RDN. Therefore, the complexity and disorder of heart rhythm, measured by entropy of entropy (EoE) and average entropy (AE), have been used to analyze autonomic dysfunction. This study evaluated the dynamic changes in autonomic status after RDN via EoE and AE analysis.
Five patients were prospectively enrolled in the Global SYMPLICITY Registry from 2020 to 2021. 24-h Holter and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) was performed at baseline and 3months after RDN procedures. The autonomic status was analyzed using the entropy-based AE and EoE analysis and the conventional HRV-based low frequency (LF), high frequency (HF), and LF/HF.
After RDN, the ABPM of all patients showed a significant reduction in blood pressure (BP) and heart rate. Only AE and HF values of all patients had consistent changes after RDN (p < 0.05). The spearman rank-order correlation coefficient of AE vs. HF was 0.86, but AE had a lower coefficient of variation than HF.
Monitoring the AE and EoE analysis could be an alternative to interpreting autonomic status. In addition, a relative change of autonomic tone, especially an increasing parasympathetic activity, could restore autonomic balance after RDN.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of photobiomodulation (PBM) on wound healing, pain, and discomfort at free gingival graft (FGG) donor sites.
Sixteen patients in need of bilateral FGG were selected for this randomized, controlled, triple-blinded, and split mouth clinical trial. The FGG donor sites in test group were treated with LLLT GaAlAs 940nm, 5J/cm

The aim of this work is to explore the role of preoperative circulating leukocytes in serous ovarian carcinoma and investigate whether they can be used to predict survival prognosis. Routine blood test results and clinical information of patients with serous ovarian carcinoma were retrospectively collected. And to predict survival according to the blood routine test result the decision tree method was applied to build a machine learning model.The results showed that the number of preoperative white blood cells (p = 0.022), monocytes (p less then 0.001), lymphocytes (p less then 0.001), neutrophils (p less then 0.001), and eosinophils (p less then 0.001) and the monocyte to lymphocyte (MO/LY) ratio in the serous ovarian cancer group were significantly different from those in the control group. These factors also showed a correlation with other clinicopathological characteristics. The MO/LY was the root node of the decision tree, and the predictive AUC for survival was 0.69. The features involved in the decision tree were the MO/LY, differentiation status, CA125 level, neutrophils (NE,) ascites cytology, LY% and age.In conclusion, the number and percentage of preoperative leukocytes in patients with ovarian cancer is changed significantly compared to those in the normal control group, as well as the MO/LY. Apelin is a new adipokine that is secreted by adipocytes, and is associated with insulin resistance (IR), inflammation, and obesity. This study was designed to investigate the role of apelin in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
A total of 235 patients with T2DM were included. The cognitive function of patients was evaluated using Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) tool, then patients were divided into MCI group and non-MCI group according to the MoCA score. Blood sample was analyzed for the level of apelin by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
The MCI group (n = 73) presented lower serum apelin levels compared with the patients with normal cognitive function (P < 0.001). Apelin levels showed significantly negative correlation with diabetes duration, triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C, creatinine and high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), and positive correlation with high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Multivariable logistic regression analysis indicated that serum apelin (OR = 0.304, 95%CI 0.104-0.886, P = 0.029), as well as education levels, diabetes duration, cardiovascular disease, serum HbA1c, HDL-C, creatinine, and BDNF, were independent risk factors of MCI in patients with T2DM.

We hypothesized that in a mouse model of allergic airways disease, mice receiving exogenous leptin would display increased airway inflammation and fibrosis.
Five-week-old male and female C57BL/6J mice were challenged with intranasal house dust mite (HDM) allergen or saline 5days per week for 6weeks (n = 6-9 per sex, per group). Following each HDM exposure, mice received subcutaneous recombinant human leptin or saline. At 48h after the final HDM challenge, lung mechanics were evaluated and the mice were sacrificed. Bronchoalveolar lavage was performed and differential cell counts were determined. Lung tissue was stained with Masson's trichrome, periodic acid-Schiff, and hematoxylin and eosin stains.
