6448 m2/m2) compared to other band combinations and VIs. Endothelial dysfunction is a sequence of permanent immune activation, resulting in the change of both the phenotype and the functions of an endothelial cell and of the extracellular layer associated with the cell membrane-endothelial glycocalyx (eGC). Numerous studies demonstrate that eGC mediates and regulates the key functions of endothelial cells including regulation of vascular tone and thromboresistance; and these functions are disrupted during PE. Taking into account that eGC and its components undergo alterations under pathological conditions leading to endothelial activation, it is supposed that eGC plays a certain role in pathogenesis of PE. Envisaging the eGC damage as a key factor of PE, might be a new approach to prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with PE. This approach could include the development of drugs protecting eGC and promoting regeneration of this structure. Since the issue of PE is far from being solved, any effort in this direction might be valuable. Background and Objectives The evaluative strength of available bibliometric tools in the field of clinical embryology has never been examined in the literature. The aim is to bring insight regarding the identity of clinical embryology research, introducing concerns when solely relying on the methodology of bibliometric analysis. Methods An all-inclusive analysis of the most bibliometrically highlighted scientific contributions regarding the cornerstones of clinical embryology was performed employing the Scopus, Web of Science (WoS) and PubMed databases, between 1978-2018. An analysis of the number of publications, respective citations and h-index, g-index, along with m-quotient is presented. The top 30 contributing authors for each distinctive area of research are listed. An attempt at visualizing the yearly published articles, clusters, and collaborations of authors, along with the geographic origin of publications, is also presented. Results Combining all searches and keywords yielded 54,522 results. In thering literature search, while proving useful regarding manuscript design and concurring on keywords and abstract content.Alumina-based coatings have been claimed as being an advantageous modification in industrial ethylene furnaces. In this work, on-line experimentally measured coking rates of a commercial coating (CoatAlloy™) have pointed out its superiority compared to an uncoated reference material in an electrobalance set-up. Additionally, the effects of presulfiding with 500 ppmw DMDS per H2O, continuous addition of 41 ppmw S per HC of DMDS, and a combination thereof were evaluated during ethane steam cracking under industrially relevant conditions (Tgasphase = 1173 K, Ptot = 0.1 MPa, XC2H6 = 70%, dilution δ = 0.33 kgH2O/kgHC). The examined samples were further evaluated using online thermogravimetry, scanning electron microscopy and energy diffractive X-ray for surface and cross-section analysis together with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and wavelength-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy for surface analysis. The passivating coating illustrated a better performance than the reference Ni-Cr Fe-base alloy after application of an improved pretreatment, followed by piddling changes on the product distribution. Presulfiding of the coating affected negatively the observed coking rates in comparison with the reference alloy, so alternative presulfiding and sulfur addition strategies are recommended when using this barrier coating. When imaging brain vasculature with optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), volumetric analysis of cortical vascular networks in OCTA datasets is frequently challenging due to the presence of artifacts, which appear as multiple-scattering tails beneath superficial large vessels in OCTA images. These tails shadow underlying small vessels, making the assessment of vascular morphology in the deep cortex difficult. In this work, we introduce an image processing technique based on mean subtraction of the depth profile that can effectively reduce these tails to better reveal small hidden vessels compared to the current tail removal approach. With the improved vascular image quality, we demonstrate that this simple method can provide better visualization of three-dimensional vascular network topology for quantitative cerebrovascular studies.Lipid markers are well-established predictors of vascular disease. The most frequently measured lipid markers are total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol (HDL-C), LDL cholesterol (LDL-C), and triglyceride. HDL reduces atherosclerosis by multiple mechanisms, leading to a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, and HDL-C, as a metric of HDL quantity, is inversely associated with cardiovascular disease, independent of LDL-C. However, the quality of the HDL appears to be more important than its quantity, because HDL loses its antiatherogenic functions due to changes in its composition and becomes "dysfunctional HDL". Although there is evidence of the existence of "dysfunctional HDL", biomarkers for monitoring dysfunctional HDL in clinical practice have not yet been established. In this review, we propose a new lipid panel for the assessment of dysfunctional HDL and lipoprotein-related atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The lipid panel includes the measurement of lipid peroxide and triglyceride contents within HDL particles.P-element-induced wimpy testis (PIWI) proteins have been described in several cancers. PIWIL1 and PIWIL2 have been recently evaluated in pancreatic cancer, and elevated expression of PIWIL2 conferred longer survival to patients. However, PIWIL3's and PIWIL4's role in carcinogenesis is rather controversial, and their clinical implication in pancreatic cancer has not yet been investigated. In the present study, we evaluated PIWIL1, PIWIL2, PIWIL3 and PIWIL4 expression in pancreatic cancer-derived cell lines and in one non-tumor cell line as healthy control. Here, we show a differential expression in tumor and non-tumor cell lines of PIWIL3 and PIWIL4. Subsequently, functional experiments with PIWIL3 and/or PIWIL4 knockdown revealed a decrease in the motility ratio of tumor and non-tumor cell lines through downregulation of mesenchymal factors in pro of epithelial factors. We also observed that PIWIL3 and/or PIWIL4 silencing impaired undifferentiated phenotype and enhanced drug toxicity in both tumor- and non-tumor-derived cell lines. Finally, PIWIL3 and PIWIL4 evaluation in human pancreatic cancer samples showed that patients with low levels of PIWIL4 protein expression presented poor prognosis. Therefore, PIWIL3 and PIWIL4 proteins may play crucial roles to keep pancreatic cell homeostasis not only in tumors but also in healthy tissues. The creation of clinically patient-specific 3D-printed biomedical appliances that can withstand the physical stresses of the complex biological environment is an important objective. To that end, this study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of aminated nanodiamonds (A-NDs) as nanofillers in biological-grade acrylate-based 3D-printed materials. Solution-based mixing was used to incorporate 0.1 wt% purified nanodiamond (NDs) and A-NDs into UV-polymerized poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). The ND and A-ND nanocomposites showed significantly lower water contact angles (p less then 0.001) and solubilities (p less then 0.05) compared to those of the control. Both nanocomposites showed markedly improved mechanical properties, with the A-ND-containing nanocomposite showing a statistically significant increase in the flexural strength (p less then 0.001), elastic modulus (p less then 0.01), and impact strength (p less then 0.001) compared to the control and ND-containing groups. The Vickers hardness and wear-resistance values of the A-ND-incorporated material were significantly higher (p less then 0.001) than those of the control and were comparable to the values observed for the ND-containing group. In addition, trueness analysis was used to verify that 3D-printed orthodontic brackets prepared with the A-ND- and ND-nanocomposites exhibited no significant differences in accuracy. Hence, we conclude that the successful incorporation of 0.1 wt% A-ND in UV-polymerized PMMA resin significantly improves the mechanical properties of the resin for the additive manufacturing of precisive 3D-printed biomedical appliances. Background Vulnerable patients from marginalized groups (e.g., people with disabilities, people experiencing homelessness, black and minority ethnic communities) experience higher rates of ill-health, inequitable access to healthcare and low engagement with screening services. Addressing these disparities and ensuring healthcare provision is impartial and fair is a priority for the United Kingdom (UK) healthcare system. Aim Using Levesque's access conceptual framework, this study explored the views of patients from marginalized groups, specifically on how access to pharmacy services could be improved and their experiences of receiving a medication review service. Method Qualitative data were collected via semi-structured interviews on patient experiences of pharmacy services and how access to these could be improved (n = 10). Interviews of patients who had received a medication review from their pharmacist were also conducted (n = 10). Using an interpretivist approach, five 'demand-side' dimensions of Levesquaccess such services. This study investigated the associations between sex, age, socio-economic status, stress, sense of coherence (SOC), and health (mental wellbeing, depressive symptoms, self-rated health, and subjective health complaints) in Norwegian adolescents aged 13-19 years. Furthermore, the study investigated the potential protective or compensatory role from SOC on the association between stress and health. Methods The study was based on a cross-sectional sample of 1233 adolescents. Data were analyzed with descriptive, comparative, and multiple linear regression analyses. Results Girls reported significantly higher scores on depressive symptoms and subjective health complaints than boys. Stress was significantly and positively associated with depressive symptoms. SOC associated significantly with all outcome variables; and especially with mental wellbeing and depressive symptoms. Significant interaction effects of sex in combination with stress and SOC were found in association with depression and mental wellbeing. NCB-0846 in vitro Associations were strongest for girls. Conclusion The findings provided support for the significant role of SOC as a coping resource, especially in relation to adolescents' mental health; weaker associations were found with subjective health complains and self-rated health. The findings also mainly supported a compensatory role of SOC on the association between stress and health during adolescence.Novel bone substitute materials need to be evaluated in terms of their osteogenic differentiation capacity and possible unwanted cytotoxic effects in order to identify promising candidates for the therapy of bone defects. The activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is frequently quantified as an osteogenic marker, while various colorimetric assays, like MTT assay, are used to monitor cell viability. In addition, the DNA or protein content of the samples needs to be quantified for normalization purposes. As this approach is time consuming and often requires the analysis of multiple samples, we aimed to simplify this process and established a protocol for the combined fluorescence-based quantification of ALP activity and cell viability within one single measurement. We demonstrate that the fluorogenic substrate 4-methylumbelliferone-phosphate (4-MUP) and the commonly used para-nitrophenylphosphate (p-NPP) produce comparable and highly correlating results. We further show that fluorescein-diacetate (FDA) can be used to quantify both cell viability and cell number without interfering with the quantification of ALP activity.
