To investigate the correlation between serum vitamin D level and clinical outcomes after repair of rotator cuff tears.
A total 122 patients who met the inclusion criteria and were followed up for 12 months from March 2018 to March 2020 were analyzed retrospectively, including 50 males and 72 females with an average age of(62.10±8.39) years old (ranged, 34 to 82 years old). All patients were divided into deficiency group(vitamin D<20 μg/L) and control group(vitamin D≥20 μg/L), including 62 cases in the deficiency group, with vitamin D (14.80±3.18) μg/L;60 cases in the control group, with vitamin D(25.17±5.64) μg/L. The two groups were compared in terms of age, gender, body mass index(BMI), tear size, degree of retraction, degree of fatty infiltration, injury factors, postoperative pain VAS score, postoperative shoulder joint function score, and re-tear rate. The age of all patients was divided into two categories<60 years old and ≥60 years old;BMI was divided into <24 kg/m
and ≥ 24 kg/m
;tear ss and re-tear rate, however it is associated with the early postoperative pain (1 and 3 months) and the quality of rotator cuff healing (Sugaya classification) after surgery.
To investigate the diagnostic value of 6 conventional physical examination tests for the diagnosis of supraspinatus tendon tears, and how well they could tell the difference between partial-and full-thickness tears.
A total of 91 patients with different shoulder symptoms who received shoulder arthroscopic procedure were enrolled in the study from June 2017 to September 2020. The intraoperative findings were compared with the results of the preoperative physical examination of 6 clinical tests, including the Hug-up test, the Jobe test, the 0°abduction test, the drop arm test, the Neer test, and the Hawkins test, to determine the sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value, accuracy, positive and negative likelihood ratio of each test.
By arthroscopy, a total of 44 full-thickness tears, 34 partial-thickness tears, and 13 intact supraspinatus tendons were found in all 91 cases. The Hug-up and the Jobe tests significantly correlated with the intraoperative findings. The sensitivity of tars with a high sensitivity, and similar specificity. The tests assessed in this study are not capable of distinguish between partial-and full thickness supraspinatus tendon tears.
To explore the MRI findings of os acromiale and to analyze the relationship between os acromiale and the supraspinatus and infraspinatus injury.
From January 2010 to August 2020, 21 patients with os acromiale (os arcomiale group) were compared with 21 subjects with no evidence of os acromiale (no os arcomiale group). There were 14 males and 7 females in the os arcomiate group, aged from 29 to 77 years old, mean aged (55.5±11.5) years old. While in the control group, there were 10 males and 11 females in no os arcomiale group, aged from 31 to 70 years old, mean aged (51.1±10.0) years old. The os acromiales were classified as edematous os acromiale or non-edematous os acromiale based on whether the presence of marrow edema, and as displaced os acromiale or non-displaced os acromiale based on whether the presence of displacement of the os acromiale. The MRI features of os acromiale were analyzed. Statistical analyses were performed to identify the differences between the os arcomiale group and no os arcomialssociated abnormalities such as adjacent bone marrow edema, displaced deformity, and rotator cuff tear, and it can be used to assess the stability of the os acromiale. The presence of os acromiale may not increase the risk of supraspinatus and infraspinatus tear significantly. However, the presence of displaced os acromiale is at greater risk of supraspinatus and infraspinatus tear.
Shoulder MRI can very well depict os acromiale and can reveal associated abnormalities such as adjacent bone marrow edema, displaced deformity, and rotator cuff tear, and it can be used to assess the stability of the os acromiale. The presence of os acromiale may not increase the risk of supraspinatus and infraspinatus tear significantly. However, the presence of displaced os acromiale is at greater risk of supraspinatus and infraspinatus tear.
To evaluate the efficacy and prognosis of double button plate combined with strengthened anchor technique and clavicular hook plate internal fixation for complete acromioclavicular joint dislocation.
From July 2017 to September 2020, a total of 42 patients with acromioclavicular joint dislocation treated by surgery were choosen as study objects and divided into observation group (21 cases) and control group (21 cases). In the observation group, there were 14 males and 7 females, aged 21 to 63 years old, with an average of (45.05±8.70) years old. In the control group, there were 16 males and 5 females, aged 25 to 68 years old, with an average of(45.00±9.44) years old. The patients in the observation group were treated with double button plate combined with strengthened anchor technique, whereas those in the control group received clavicular hook plate internal fixation. The two groups were compared in terms of operating time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative hospital stay, shoulder pain(visual analtion group, while 5 cases of shoulder pain, 2 cases of restricted shoulder mobility, and 1 case of subacromial bone absorption were found in the control group. In both group, there was no loss of reduction.
In the treatment of complete acromioclavicular joint dislocation double button plate combined with strengthened anchor technique achieves favorable clinical result. Internal fixation does not need to be removed. The recovery of shoulder joint function and pain relief are superior than clavicular hook plate internal fixation, which is more worthy of clinical promotion.

To compare the effect of two different arthroscopic procedures, threading lasso fixation and full-thickness conversion, for repairing articular-sided partial-thickness supraspinatus tendon tear.
From July 2015 to November 2018, 21 patients with articular-sided partial-thickness supraspinatus tendon tears underwent arthroscopic modified threading lasso fixation repair(group A). There were 12 males and 9 females in the group, with an average age of(53.2±6.4)years old. Twenty-four patients with articular-sided partial-thickness supraspinatus tendon tears received arthroscopic full-thickness conversion repair(group B). In this group, there were 14 males and 10 females, with an average age of (55.7±5.2) years old. The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score and University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) shoulder score were used to evaluate preoperative and postoperative clinical function. MRI was used to examine the healing status of the reconstructed rotator cuff.
All patients were followed up, aendon can be preserved.
For the treatment of articular-sided partial-thickness supraspinatus tendon tears both arthroscopic repairs employing threading lasso fixation and full-thickness conversion could achieve satisfactory clinical results, and there are no significant differences in clinical outcomes between the two techniques. Arthroscopic repair with threading lasso fixation is a novel transtendinous procedure in which integrity of the tendon can be preserved.HLA sequence-based DNA typing (SBT) by long-range PCR amplification (LR PCR) and next-generation sequencing (NGS) is a high-throughput DNA sequencing method (LR-NGS-SBT) for the efficient and sensitive detection of novel and null HLA alleles to the field-4 level of allelic resolution without phase ambiguity. However, the accuracy and reliability of the HLA typing results using buccal cells (BCs) and saliva as genetic source materials for the LR-NGS-SBT method are dependent largely on the quality of the extracted genomic DNA (gDNA) because a large degree of gDNA fragmentation can result in insufficient PCR amplification with the incorrect assignment of HLA alleles because of allele dropouts. In this study, we developed a new cost-efficient swab storage gel (SSG) for wet swab collection of BCs (BC-SSG) and evaluated its usefulness by performing different DNA analytical parameters including LR-NGS-SBT to compare the quality and quantity of gDNA extracted from BCs (in SSG or air dried), blood and saliva of 30 subjects. JAK Inhibitor I in vivo The BC-SSG samples after 5 days of storage revealed qualitative and quantitative DNA values equivalent to that of blood and/or saliva and better than swabs that were only air-dried (BC-nSSG). Moreover, all the gDNA extracted from blood, saliva and BC-SSG samples were HLA-typed successfully to an equivalent total of 408 alleles for each sample type. Therefore, the application of BC-SSG collection media for LR-NGS-SBT has benefits over BC dried samples (dry swabs) such as reducing retesting and the number of untestable BC samples because of insufficient DNA amplification. The development of highly efficient and stable oxygen reduction electrocatalysts and revealing their underlying catalytic mechanism are crucial in expanding the applications of metal-air batteries. Herein, an excellent FeCo alloy nanoparticles (NPs)-decorated N-doped mesoporous carbon electrocatalyst (FeCo/NC) for oxygen reduction reaction, prepared through the pyrolysis of a dual metal containing metal-organic framework composite scaffold is reported. Benefiting from the highly exposed bimetal active sites and the carefully designed structure, the Fe0.25 Co0.75 /NC-800 catalyst exhibits a promising electrocatalytic activity and a superior durability, better than those of the state-of-the-art catalysts. Suggested by both the X-ray absorption fine structures and the density functional theoretical calculation, the outstanding catalytic performance is originated from the synergistic effects of the bimetallic loading in NC catalysts, where the electronic modulation of the Co active sites from the nearby Fe species leads to an optimized binding strength for reaction intermediates. This work demonstrates a class of highly active nonprecious metals electrocatalysts and provides valuable insights into investigating the structure-performance relationship of transition metal-based alloy catalysts. We report physiotherapy management of two patients with severe cystic fibrosis (CF) lung disease and upper limb deep vein thrombosis (DVT). These patients were admitted due to a pulmonary exacerbation. Following peripherally inserted central catheters, they were diagnosed with an upper limb DVT. Due to their underlying lung disease, physiotherapy was mandatory for improvement. However, the DVT and anticoagulation treatment raised concerns for pulmonary emboli and hemoptysis. A framework for physiotherapy management in these patients, using a set of precautions and restrictions to maintain airway clearance while minimizing the risk for pulmonary emboli and hemoptysis, was established. Using this set of instructions, the patients experienced no major adverse events while maintaining sufficient airway clearance to allow respiratory improvement. These precautions were continued until the upper limb DVTs were resolved. To our knowledge, there are currently no guidelines or expert opinions available. Therefore, this framework can help guide physiotherapy management.
