Each sensor node consists of a solar panel, a rechargeable cell, a microcontroller, a moisture sensor, and a communication unit. Each node is capable to work as a sensor node and router node for network traffic. Minimized data logs from the central node are sent daily to the cloud for future analytics purpose. After conducting a detailed experiment in open sight, the communication distance measured 250 m between two points and increased to 750 m by adding two intermediate nodes. The minimum working current of each node was 2 mA, and the packet loss rate was approximately 2-5% on different packet sizes of the entire network. Results show that the proposed approach can be used as a reference model to meet the requirements for soil measurement, transmission, and storage in a large-scale agricultural farm.Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common adult kidney cancer, and accounts for 85% of all cases of kidney cancers worldwide. Praeruptorin B (Pra-B) is a bioactive constituent of Peucedanum praeruptorum Dunn and exhibits several pharmacological activities, including potent antitumor effects. However, the anti-RCC effects of Pra-B and their underlying mechanisms are unclear; therefore, we explored the effects of Pra-B on RCC cells in this study. We found that Pra-B nonsignificantly influenced the cell viability of human RCC cell lines 786-O and ACHN at a dose of less than 30 μM for 24 h treatment. Further study revealed that Pra-B potently inhibited the migration and invasion of 786-O and ACHN cells, as well as downregulated the mRNA and protein expression of cathepsin C (CTSC) and cathepsin V (CTSV) of 786-O and ACHN cells. Mechanistically, Pra-B also reduced the protein levels of phospho (p)-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), p-mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase (MEK), and p-extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERK) in RCC cells. In addition, Pra-B treatment inhibited the effect of EGF on the upregulation of EGFR-MEK-ERK, CTSC and CTSV expression, cellular migration, and invasion of 786-O cells. Our findings are the first to demonstrate that Pra-B can reduce the migration and invasion ability of human RCC cells through suppressing the EGFR-MEK-ERK signaling pathway and subsequently downregulating CTSC and CTSV. This evidence suggests that Pra-B can be developed as an effective antimetastatic agent for the treatment of RCC.This cross-sectional study aimed to examine the associations among self-reported sitting time (ST), transtheoretical model (TTM) based on exercise behavior change, and glycemic and weight control in Japanese adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Forty-two adults (age, 44.0 (33.3-56.8) years) with uncomplicated T1D answered questions regarding their lifestyles, including ST per day, and TTM using self-administered questionnaires. The glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) level correlated with age and ST (p 7%) was associated with ST (odds ratio, 3.53 (95% confidence interval, 1.54-8.11), p less then 0.01). In addition, the cut-off points for quartiles of ST were 4.6, 6.0, and 8.0 h/day, and the HbA1c level in the lowest quartile was 15% lower than that in the highest quartile (p less then 0.01). Although further studies with larger samples are needed, these results implied that expanded self-reported ST might be related to poor glycemic control in Japanese T1D adults, most of whom were lean, young and middle-aged, regardless of TTM based on exercise behavior change.BACKGROUND In the literature, no information on plates for low-neck mandibular condylar osteosynthesis can be found, despite the fact that 30 plate designs have already been published. The aim of this study was to compare any dedicated plates for possible use in low-neck condylar fracture osteosynthesis. METHODS The force required for 1-mm displacement of the fixed fracture fragments and incidents of screw loosening were recorded on polyurethane mandibles among 16 designs of titanium plates fixed by 6-mm screws in a 2.0 system. RESULTS Double-straight plate fixation was the mechanical gold standard (15.2 ± 3.5 N), followed by A-shape Condylar Plates (14.9 ± 2.1 N), X-shape Condylar Plates (14.2 ± 1.3 N) and Auto Repositioning Plates (11.8 ± 2.4 N). Screw loosening was uncommon, as a minimum of three screws were placed into the condylar part. Fewer screws were lost from the ramus part of the fixation if the plate was attached to the condylar part by three screws. Often, the stability of the ramus screws was lost when there were only two fixing screws in the condyle (p less then 0.001). CONCLUSIONS It is advisable to consider the mechanical advantages as one decides which plate to choose for open rigid internal fixation in low-neck condylar fractures, or to only be aware of the significant differences in mobility within the fracture line after fixation with different dedicated plates.Anisakiosis is a fish-borne disease with gastrointestinal and/or allergic symptoms caused by the consumption of raw or undercooked fish parasitized with nematode larvae of the genus Anisakis.
