This paper proposes a method to identify the spatial range of mining disturbance (SRMD). First, a non-linear and quantitative relationship between driving factors and fractional vegetation cover (FVC) was constructed by geographically weighted artificial neural network (GWANN). The driving factors include precipitation, temperature, topography, urban activities, and mining activities. Second, the contribution of mining activities (Wmine) to FVC was quantified using the differential method. Third, the virtual contribution of mining activities (V-Wmine) to FVC during the period without mining activity was calculated, which was taken as the noise in the contribution of mining activities. Finally, the SRMD in 2020 was identified by the significance test based on the Wmine and noise. The results show that (1) the mean RMSE and MRE for the 11 years of the GWANN in the whole study area are 0.0526 and 0.1029, which illustrates the successful construction of the relationship between driving factors and FVC; (2) the noise in the contribution of mining activities obeys normal distribution, and the critical value is 0.085 for the significance test; (3) most of the SRMD are inside the 3 km buffer with an average disturbance distance of 2.25 km for the whole SRMD, and significant directional heterogeneity is possessed by the SRMD. find more In conclusion, the usability of the proposed method for identifying SRMD has been demonstrated, with the advantages of elimination of coupling impact, spatial continuity, and threshold stability. This study can serve as an early environmental warning by identifying SRMD and also provide scientific data for developing plans of environmental rehabilitation in mining areas.Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) occurs when one or more pelvic organs descend into or through the vaginal opening, significantly impacting physical and mental health. POP affects the female reproductive tract and, overwhelmingly, people who identify as women. However, little research has examined the impact of gendered expectations on women's treatment-seeking for POP and their decision-making around surgery for POP. To address this gap, we conducted semi-structured interviews with 26 women seeking surgery for POP in Alberta, Canada. Data were analyzed from a gender-based lens, using the Framework Method. Participants reported the need to balance their identities as women, partners, and mothers in their pursuit of treatment and faced many barriers to treatment related to their gendered responsibilities. Findings highlight the gendered experiences of prolapse in the context of healthcare needs and can inform policies and practices which promote more equitable access to prolapse treatment. We aimed to clarify the relationship between oral function assessments regarding oral hypofunction and sarcopenia in patients who had completed treatment for organic dental problems, including oral pain, removable denture fit, and tooth loss. This cross-sectional study included 269 patients aged ≥65 years (mean age 74.9 ± 6.50 years, 133 men, 136 women) who visited a dental clinic between June 2019 and March 2021. We evaluated oral function and sarcopenia and analyzed their relationship using the Jonckheere-Terpstra test, Mantel-Haenszel trend test, and Poisson regression analysis. We diagnosed 132 (49.07%) patients with oral hypofunction, 30 (11.2%) with sarcopenia, and 24 (8.9%) with severe sarcopenia. The number of oral hypofunction items (prevalence rate ratio [PRR] = 1.39, 95%Wald = 0.11 to 0.56) was significantly associated with sarcopenia. For each of the items, tongue-lip motor function [ta] (PRR = 0.80, 95%Wald = -0.44 to -0.02)] [ka] (PRR = 0.76, 95%Wald = -0.53 to -0.03) and tongue pressure (PRR = 0.95, 95%Wald = -0.09 to -0.02) showed a significant association with sarcopenia. However, no significant association was found for other variables. Dentists should not only treat organic dental problems but also consider the relationship between oral function and sarcopenia. This research aims to test the impact of procedural justice on employees' turnover intention via their intention to stay or give up their positions by putting social influence in the spotlight as a mediating variable. Although the topic dealing with the relationship linking organizational justice to turnover intention has taken some wrinkles, there has been no published research, to the best of researchers' knowledge, that integrates social influence as a mediating variable between the aforementioned relationships. A questionnaire survey was administered to 558 employees working in a renowned banking institution located in the capital city of Tunis, Tunisia. Structural equation modeling (SEM) results using AMOS software, IBM, version 23, showed that social influence partially mediated the relationship between procedural justice and turnover intention. More specifically, procedural justice has a significant negative effect on turnover intention (β = -0.30, p < 0.01) and a significant positive effect on social influence (β = +0.54, p < 0.01), which will have a significant positive effect on turnover intention (β = +0.91, p < 0.01). The results confirm that procedural justice is necessary for any organization; however, it is not enough to eliminate the turnover intention, especially with the presence of social influence. Social influence alters the judgments of those caught in its nets. This intangible aspect and power is even more enigmatic and harmful, which can lead to a change in cognitive references and behaviors. Social influence heavily affects the spontaneity of individuals and they became subject to dominant forces, which has to be properly controlled by management. As the world continues to urbanize, it is necessary to identify and implement new urban development models and strategies in order to meet the challenges of sustainable development. As cities continue to face challenges in becoming fully circular, the need to establish a framework to measure the circular economy in urban areas grows. Many definitions for circular cities have been developed and addressed in recent years, as have numerous indicators. To make the transition to a circular city, we must integrate the findings and develop a general definition and measurement framework. This article aims at outlining a framework for circular cities indicators based on their key characteristics, as well providing directions for fostering circularity at the city level. To accomplish this goal, we conducted a systematic review and analyzed key papers published in the field of circular economy to determine how circular cities are measured. Choosing the right indicators to use for developing, monitoring, and evaluating circular cities is a difficult task for urban policymakers, managers, and planners. This highlights the significance of standardized frameworks for urban indicators. As a result, the authors propose a framework and highlight some key points about circular cities and smart urban metabolism.Occupational traffic accidents are a leading cause of injuries or deaths among workers. Teachers in Spain are especially concerned about the problem of commuting due to their particular labor conditions. Multiple work-related factors are associated with the risk and severity of occupational traffic-related motor vehicle crashes. The objective of this research is to analyze the influence of the variables associated with the severity of occupational traffic accidents among teachers in Spain. A logistic regression model was used for the current study. The odds ratio (OR) and confidence interval (CI) were calculated for the injured worker on a sample of 20,190 occupational traffic accidents suffered by teachers. The results showed that women, Spanish nationality, younger than 55 years, and those driving a car were more likely to suffer a light crash. In contrast, men, foreign nationalities, older than 55 years, and those riding a motorbike were more likely to suffer a serious crash. Based on these findings, motor vehicle safety training could be designed and adapted to the riskiest profiles. Additionally, effective mobility plans for commuting could help reduce work-related traffic accidents.COVID-19 has dramatically changed the work environment in healthcare, which is creating an additional burden for healthcare professionals. In this study, we investigate the factors that trigger professionals to have negative perceptions of their jobs during the pandemic. A cross-sectional survey is used for this study. The respondents are selected based on convenience random sampling. We use 345 questionaries for the analysis. Respondents are health care professionals (nurses, doctors, midwives, technicians, etc.) working in a pandemic hospital in Turkey. We run a multivariable logistic regression model to analyze the predictors of work difficulty perception. The model is adjusted for the respondents' demographical characteristics and emotional wellbeing. We found that depression and burnout are significantly correlated with the perception of job difficulty (OR Severe PHQ-9 = 10.8, p = 0.004; OR Severe Burnout = 7.83, p < 0.001). The professionals who are changed from one department to another are also more likely to perceive the job as difficult (OR Department Change = 1.60, p = 0.045). However, the professionals that received sufficient applause from society are more likely to think that they did not face any difficulties doing their job during the pandemic (OR Applause = 0.56, p < 0.016). Anxiety, monetary motivation, religious beliefs, and information availability did not contribute to the perceived difficulty in their jobs. Thus, efforts need to be made to give them more social support and smooth their changes in departments and functions to facilitate their jobs.Involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is an important psychosocial factor for the recovery of alcohol-dependent individuals. Recent studies have confirmed the beneficial role of involvement in AA for abstinence and reduction in drinking alcohol. Little is known about the mechanism underlying the relationship between involvement in AA and subjective well-being. This study aims to verify whether in a sample of Polish AA participants involvement in AA is indirectly related to subjective well-being through existential well-being consisting of hope and meaning in life. The achieved results have confirmed that involvement in AA is positively related to existential well-being, which in turn positively predicts subjective well-being including life satisfaction as well as positive and negative affect. It was confirmed that AA involvement in self-help groups indirectly via existential well-being is related to subjective well-being. Theoretical and practical implications were discussed.
The relevance of growth determination in orthodontics is driving the search for the most precise and least invasive way of tracking the pubertal growth spurt.
The aim was to explore whether minimally invasive salivary estimation of biomarkers Insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1) and Insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) could be used to estimate skeletal maturity with diagnostic accuracy, especially in children and adolescent age groups.
The cross-sectional study was conducted on 105 participants aged 6-25 years from the out-patient Department of Preventive Dental Science at Majmaah University between the period 2 January 2021 and 12 July 2021. Each subject's lateral cephalogram radiograph was categorized based on skeletal maturity, and saliva samples were estimated for IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 using the respective ELISA kits. Two-way ANOVA with interaction was applied to examine the main effects due to cervical vertebral maturation staging (CVS), Sex and interaction effect due to CVS, and Sex on study parameters.
