UHD test sequences achieve bitrate savings of up to 3.66% for Random Access.Supervoxel segmentation algorithm has been applied as a preprocessing step for many vision tasks. However, existing supervoxel segmentation algorithms cannot generate hierarchical supervoxel segmentation well preserving the spatiotemporal boundaries in real time, which prevents the downstream applications from accurate and efficient processing. In this paper, we propose a real-time hierarchical supervoxel segmentation algorithm based on the minimum spanning tree (MST), which achieves state-of-the-art accuracy meanwhile at least 11× faster than existing methods. In particular, we present a dynamic graph updating operation into the iterative construction process of the MST, which can geometrically decrease the numbers of vertices and edges. In this way, the proposed method is able to generate arbitrary scales of supervoxels on the fly. We prove the efficiency of our algorithm that can produce hierarchical supervoxels in the time complexity of O(n) , where n denotes the number of voxels in the input video. Quantitative and qualitative evaluations on public benchmarks demonstrate that our proposed algorithm significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of supervoxel segmentation accuracy and computational efficiency. Furthermore, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method on a downstream application of video object segmentation.Detecting human parts at instance-level is an essential prerequisite for the analysis of human keypoints, actions, and attributes. #link# Nonetheless, there is a lack of a large-scale, rich-annotated dataset for human parts detection. We fill in the gap by proposing COCO Human Parts. The proposed dataset is based on the COCO 2017, which is the first instance-level human parts dataset, and contains images of complex scenes and high diversity. For reflecting the diversity of human body in natural scenes, we annotate human parts with (a) location in terms of a bounding-box, (b) various type including face, head, hand, and foot, (c) subordinate relationship between person and human parts, (d) fine-grained classification into right-hand/left-hand and left-foot/right-foot. link2 A lot of higher-level applications and studies can be founded upon COCO Human Parts, such as gesture recognition, face/hand keypoint detection, visual actions, human-object interactions, and virtual reality. There are a total of 268,030 person instances from the 66,808 images, and 2.83 parts per person instance. We provide a statistical analysis of the accuracy of our annotations. In addition, we propose a strong baseline for detecting human parts at instance-level over this dataset in an end-to-end manner, call Hier(archy) R-CNN. It is a simple but effective extension of Mask R-CNN, which can detect human parts of each person instance and predict the subordinate relationship between them. Codes and dataset are publicly available (https//github.com/soeaver/Hier-R-CNN).Most network data are collected from partially observable networks with both missing nodes and missing edges, for example, due to limited resources and privacy settings specified by users on social media. Thus, it stands to reason that inferring the missing parts of the networks by performing network completion should precede downstream applications. However, despite this need, the recovery of missing nodes and edges in such incomplete networks is an insufficiently explored problem due to the modeling difficulty, which is much more challenging than link prediction that only infers missing edges. In this paper, we present DeepNC, a novel method for inferring the missing parts of a network based on a deep generative model of graphs. Specifically, our method first learns a likelihood over edges via an autoregressive generative model, and then identifies the graph that maximizes the learned likelihood conditioned on the observable graph topology. Moreover, we propose a computationally efficient DeepNC algorithm that consecutively finds individual nodes that maximize the probability in each node generation step, as well as an enhanced version using the expectation-maximization algorithm. The runtime complexities of both algorithms are shown to be almost linear in the number of nodes in the network. We empirically demonstrate the superiority of DeepNC over state-of-the-art network completion approaches.Graphs with complete node attributes have been widely explored recently. While in practice, there is a graph where attributes of only partial nodes could be available and those of the others might be entirely missing. This attribute-missing graph is related to numerous real-world applications and there are limited studies investigating the corresponding learning problems. Existing graph learning methods including the popular GNN cannot provide satisfied learning performance since they are not specified for attribute-missing graphs. Thereby, designing a new GNN for these graphs is a burning issue to the graph learning community. In LMK-235 cost , we make a shared-latent space assumption on graphs and develop a novel distribution matching based GNN called structure-attribute transformer (SAT) for attribute-missing graphs. SAT leverages structures and attributes in a decoupled scheme and achieves the joint distribution modeling of structures and attributes by distribution matching techniques. It could not only perform the link prediction task but also the newly introduced node attribute completion task. Furthermore, practical measures are introduced to quantify the performance of node attribute completion. Extensive experiments on seven real-world datasets indicate SAT shows better performance than other methods on both link prediction and node attribute completion tasks.In computer vision, object detection is one of most important tasks, which underpins a few instance-level recognition tasks and many downstream applications. Recently one-stage methods have gained much attention over two-stage approaches due to their simpler design and competitive performance. Here we propose a fully convolutional one-stage object detector (FCOS) to solve object detection in a per-pixel prediction fashion, analogue to other dense prediction problems such as semantic segmentation. Almost all state-of-the-art object detectors such as RetinaNet, SSD, YOLOv3, and Faster R-CNN rely on pre-defined anchor boxes. In contrast, our proposed detector FCOS is anchor box free, as well as proposal free. By eliminating the pre-defined set of anchor boxes, FCOS completely avoids the complicated computation related to anchor boxes such as calculating the intersection over union (IoU) scores during training. More importantly, we also avoid all hyper-parameters related to anchor boxes, which are often sensitive to the final detection performance. With the only post-processing non-maximum suppression (NMS), we demonstrate a much simpler and flexible detection framework achieving improved detection accuracy. We hope that the proposed FCOS framework can serve as a simple and strong alternative for many other instance-level tasks. Code is available at git.io/AdelaiDet.Although deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have demonstrated remarkable performance on multiple computer vision tasks, researches on adversarial learning have shown that deep models are vulnerable to adversarial examples. Most of the existing adversarial attack methods only create a single adversarial example for the input, which just gives a glimpse of the underlying data manifold of adversarial examples. In this paper, we present an effective method, called Hamiltonian Monte Carlo with Accumulated Momentum (HMCAM), aiming to generate a sequence of adversarial examples. To improve the efficiency of HMC, we propose a new regime to automatically control the length of trajectories, which allows the algorithm to move with adaptive step sizes along the search direction at different positions. Moreover, we revisit the reason for high computational cost of adversarial training under the view of MCMC and design a new generative method called Contrastive Adversarial Training (CAT), which approaches equilibrium distribution of adversarial examples with only few iterations by building from small modifications of the standard Contrastive Divergence (CD) and achieve a trade-off between efficiency and accuracy. The quantitative analysis and the qualitative analysis on several natural image datasets and practical systems have confirmed the superiority of the propose algorithm.Visual localization enables autonomous vehicles to navigate in their surroundings and augmented reality applications to link virtual to real worlds. Practical visual localization approaches need to be robust to a wide variety of viewing conditions, including day-night changes, as well as weather and seasonal variations, while providing highly accurate six degree-of-freedom (6DOF) camera pose estimates. In this paper, we extend three publicly available datasets containing images captured under a wide variety of viewing conditions, but lacking camera pose information, with ground truth pose information, making evaluation of the impact of various factors on 6DOF camera pose estimation accuracy possible. link3 We also discuss the performance of state-of-the-art localization approaches on these datasets. Additionally, we release around half of the poses for all conditions, and keep the remaining half private as a test set, in the hopes that this will stimulate research on long-term visual localization, learned local image features, and related research areas. Our datasets are available at visuallocalization.net, where we are also hosting a benchmarking server for automatic evaluation of results on the test set. The presented state-of-the-art results are to a large degree based on submissions to our server.Representation learning with small labeled data have emerged in many problems, since the success of deep neural networks often relies on the availability of a huge amount of labeled data that is expensive to collect. To address it, many efforts have been made on training sophisticated models with few labeled data in an unsupervised and semi-supervised fashion. In this paper, we will review the recent progresses on these two major categories of methods. A wide spectrum of models will be categorized in a big picture, where we will show how they interplay with each other to motivate explorations of new ideas. We will review the principles of learning the transformation equivariant, disentangled, self-supervised and semi-supervised representations, all of which underpin the foundation of recent progresses. Many implementations of unsupervised and semi-supervised generative models have been developed on the basis of these criteria, greatly expanding the territory of existing autoencoders, generative adversarial nets (GANs) and other deep networks by exploring the distribution of unlabeled data for more powerful representations.Deep learning is becoming an indispensable tool for various tasks in science and engineering. A critical step in constructing a reliable deep learning model is the selection of a loss function, which measures the discrepancy between the network prediction and the ground truth. While a variety of loss functions have been proposed in the literature, a truly optimal loss function that maximally utilizes the capacity of neural networks for deep learning-based decision-making has yet to be established. Here, we devise a generalized loss function with functional parameters determined adaptively during model training to provide a versatile framework for optimal neural network-based decision-making in small target segmentation. The method is showcased by more accurate detection and segmentation of lung and liver cancer tumors as compared with the current state-of-the-art. The proposed formalism opens new opportunities for numerous practical applications such as disease diagnosis, treatment planning, and prognosis.
