With SRCs being the master regulators of cell-cell signaling integral to physiologic changes necessary for wound repair, it is becoming clear that therapeutic targeting of SRCs provides a unique opportunity for drug development in wound healing. This review will provide an overview of wound healing-related functions of SRCs with a special focus on cellular and molecular interactions important for limiting tissue damage after injury. Finally, we review recent findings showing stimulation of SRCs following cardiac injury with the SRC small molecule stimulator MCB-613 can promote cardiac protection and inhibit pathologic remodeling after myocardial infarction.
Is there a serum progesterone (P) threshold on the day of embryo transfer (ET) in artificial endometrium preparation cycles below which the chances of ongoing pregnancy are reduced?
Serum P levels <8.8 ng/ml on the day of ET lower ongoing pregnancy rate (OPR) in both own or donated oocyte cycles.
We previously found that serum P levels <9.2 ng/ml on the day of ET significantly decrease OPR in a sample of 211 oocyte donation recipients. Here, we assessed whether these results are applicable to all infertile patients under an artificial endometrial preparation cycle, regardless of the oocyte origin.
This prospective cohort study was performed between September 2017 and November 2018 and enrolled 1205 patients scheduled for ET after an artificial endometrial preparation cycle with estradiol valerate and micronized vaginal P (MVP, 400 mg twice daily).
Patients ≤50 years old with a triple-layer endometrium ≥6.5 mm underwent transfer of one or two blastocysts. A total of 1150 patients treated with oin patients with ongoing pregnancy regardless of serum P levels being above/below 8.8 ng/ml.
Only women with MVP were included. Extrapolation to other P administration forms needs to be validated.
This study identified the threshold of serum P as 8.8 ng/ml on the day of ET for artificial endometrial preparation cycles necessary to optimize outcomes, in cycles with own or donated oocytes. DNA Repair inhibitor One-third of patients receiving MVP show inadequate levels of serum P that, in turn, impact the success of the ART cycle. Monitoring P levels in the mid-luteal phase is recommended when using MVP to adjust the doses according to the needs of the patient.

GPs are encouraged to make brief interventions to support weight loss, but they report concern about these conversations, stating that they need more details on what to say. Knowing how engage in these conversations could encourage GPs to deliver brief interventions for weight loss more frequently.
To examine which specific words and phrases were successful in achieving conversational alignment and minimizing misunderstanding, contributing to effective interventions.
A conversation analysis of English family practice patients participating in a trial of opportunistic weight-management interventions, which incorporated the offer of referral to community weight-management services (CWMS). Qualitative conversation analysis was applied to 246 consultation recordings to identify communication patterns, which contributed to clear, efficient interventions.
Analysis showed variation in how GPs delivered interventions. Some ways of talking created misunderstandings or misalignment, while others avoided these. There were five components of clear and efficient opportunistic weight-management referrals. These were (i) exemplifying CWMS with a recognizable brand name (ii) saying weight-management 'programme' or 'service', rather than 'group' or 'club' (iii) stating that the referral is 'free' early on (iv) saying the number CWMS visits available on referral (v) stating that the CWMS programme available was 'local'.
When making a brief opportunistic intervention to support weight loss, clinicians can follow these five steps to create a smooth and efficient intervention. Knowing this may allay clinicians' fears about these consultations being awkward and improve adherence to guidelines.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate a pilot preoperative contingency management intervention for smoking abstinence.
This multisite pilot study was conducted at 2 cancer center-based tobacco treatment programs. Participants who were smoking, diagnosed with or suspected to have any type of operable cancer, and had a surgical procedure scheduled in the next 10 days to 5 weeks (N=40) were randomized to receive standard care plus Monitoring Only (MO) or Contingency Management (CM) prior to surgery. All patients received breath carbon monoxide (CO) tests 3 times per week, nicotine patches, and counseling. The CM group also earned payments for self-reported smoking abstinence confirmed by CO breath test ≤6ppm on an escalating schedule of reinforcement (with a reset if they smoked). Seven-day point prevalence abstinence rates on the day of surgery and at 3-month follow up were compared between groups using repeated measures log-linear regression models utilizing generalized estimating equations. Participants lost to follow-up are assumed to have returned to smoking.
The sample was 50% female and 75% White. In covariate adjusted models, patients in the CM group had a greater probability of reported abstinence. On the day of surgery (end of treatment), 52% of CM patients were abstinent compared to 16% of patients in MO [Risk Ratio=3.2 (1.1-9.3); p=0.03]. At the 3-month follow-up, 43% of CM patients were abstinent compared to 5% in MO [RR=8.4 (1.5-48.3); p=0.02].
Providing monetary incentives contingent on abstinence prior to cancer surgery may produce significant improvements in smoking abstinence rates relative to breath CO monitoring only.
