While prey diffuse according to the usual Laplace operator, predators hunt for prey, moving at finite speed towards regions of higher prey density. The eyeball distortions caused by eye diseases, such as myopia and strabismus, can lead to the deviations of eye-tracking data. In this paper, a model-based method with geometric solutions is proposed for gaze correction. The deviations of estimated gaze points are geometrically analyzed based on the individual eyeball models with considerations of the distortions caused by myopia and strabismus. A set of integrated geometric solutions is derived from the varied situations including the case of strabismus and the case of myopia and strabismus, and then used for gaze correction in eyetracking. The experimental results demonstrate that this model-based method is effective to reduce deviations in estimated gaze points, and can be used to correct the modeling error in eye-tracking. Moreover, the proposed method has the potential to provide a simple approach to correct the eyetracking data for various populations with eye diseases.Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the deadliest cancers worldwide. At present, few effective biomarkers and targets are available for prognosis and treatment of HCC. Chemokines are a group of small proinflammatory chemoattractant cytokines binding to specific G-protein-coupled seven-span transmembrane receptors, which could recruit various immune cells to diverse tissues. Mountainous evidence from cell lines, animal models, even human liver tissues indicates that CXC cytokines display a strong correlation with HCC tumorigenesis. Nevertheless, the accurate expression patterns as well as functions of these CXCLs remain unclear. This study aims to explore the mRNA transcriptional and survival analysis of CXCLs in patients with HCC from the databases involving ONCOMINE, GEPIA, and cBioPortal databases. The result showed that the mRNA expression levels of CXCL2/12/14 were significantly lower in HCC tissues than those in adjacent tissues. By contrast, the mRNA expression levels of CXCL9/10 were significantly higher in HCC tissues. The expression levels of CXCL3/5 were correlated with different tumor stages. The survival analysis demonstrated that high transcriptional levels of CLCL1/3/5/8 may exhibit poorer overall survival in patients with HCC while high CXCL2 in patients with HCC may confer better overall survival. In conclusion, our study uncovered that CXCL2/5/9/10/12/14 may be novel biomarkers for the prognosis of HCC and that CXCL1/2/3/5/8 could server as potential targets in the precise treatment of HCC.Introduction Previous studies have found that tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) was involved in the progression of pulmonary hypertension (PH), and TRAIL knocking (KO) has an inhibitory effect on PH, but its mechanism is not completely clear. Methods The effects of TRAIL on the accumulation of extracelluar matrix (ECM), which is one of the most important processes of vascular remodeling, were observed in mice and isolated pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs). In vivo, mice were divided into four groups Control group (n = 5), hypoxia-induced PH mice group (n = 8), anti-TRAIL antibody (TRAIL-Ab) treatment group (n = 8) and IgG antibody (IgG) group (n = 8). The effects of TRAIL-Ab on ECM expression in hypoxic induced PH were researched; in vivo, PASMCs were divided into three groups Control group, hypoxia-induced group, TRAIL-Ab group. Expressions of p-Smad2/3 and p-Smad1/5/8 were compared among the three groups. Results Hypoxia-induced PH mice had significant increases in right ventricle systolic pressure (RVSP) (P less then 0.001), right ventricular hypertrophy (RVH) (P = 0.007), vascular stenosis (P less then 0.001) compared with controls. Mice with anti-TRAIL antibody had lower levels in RVSP (P less then 0.001), RVH (P less then 0.001), vascular stenosis (P less then 0.001) than PH mice. Besides, the TRAIL-Ab significantly inhibited the phosphorylation of Smad2/3 compared with hypoxia-induced group. Conclusion TRAIL regulates the accumulation of ECM in pulmonary artery by activating pSmad2/3.In order to improve the detection accuracy of hidden message in images, steganalysis features are selected as inputs for steganalysers. However, the existing Fisher criterion ignores the contribution of steganalysis feature components in dispersion to classification, which causes the useful feature components to be deleted, and decreases the detection accuracy of steganalysis features. By analyzing the separability of steganalysis feature components, we introduce the sigmoid function into Fisher's criterion and propose an improved Fisher criterion (I-Fisher criterion), which can make up for the traditional Fisher criterion in separability measurement of steganalysis feature components. To optimize the steganalysis feature and reduce its dimension, we employ the improved Fisher criterion as the heuristic function of the decision rough set α-positive region reduction, and propose the feature selection method based on the improved Fisher. Experimental results show that the proposed method can reduce the dimension and memory of the GFR high-dimensional feature and the CC-PEV lowdimensional feature while maintaining or improving the detection accuracy. In this paper, we are concerned with an epidemic model of susceptible, infected and recovered (SIR) population dynamic by considering an age-structured phase of protection with limited duration, for instance due to vaccination or drugs with temporary immunity. The model is reduced to a delay differential-difference system, where the delay is the duration of the protection phase. We investigate the local asymptotic stability of the two steady states disease-free and endemic. selleck We also establish when the endemic steady state exists, the uniform persistence of the disease. We construct quadratic and logarithmic Lyapunov functions to establish the global asymptotic stability of the two steady states. We prove that the global stability is completely determined by the basic reproduction number.
