Aim Plant products have been evaluated to control opportunistic micro-organisms, as well as fortify immune system cells. Thus, Curcuma longa L. (turmeric) extract was evaluated in interactions of murine macrophages (RAW 264.7) with Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans, in order to establish cooperation with defense cells. Materials & methods Effects of minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of the plant extract were analyzed on phagocytosis, cell viability of RAW 264.7 and production of inflammation-related molecules (IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-10 and NO). Results The plant extract was cytocompatible and promoted significant reductions of micro-organisms, and synthesis of inflammation-related molecules, during interactions. ConclusionC. longa L. extract showed significant antimicrobial response and cooperation with macrophages, by fighting bacteria and yeasts during host-microbe interactions.
This review aimed to explore and summarise available cases of delirium suspected to be associated with the use of macrolide antibiotics reported in the literature and the United States Food and Drug Administration's Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database.
Electronic searches of the literature were conducted in four online databases PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science and Serbian Citation Index (SCIndeks). A search of FAERS database was also conducted to supplement the findings of the literature search. Descriptive statistics, narrative summation and tabulation of the extracted data were made.
Cases of delirium which satisfied inclusion criteria were found for clarithromycin, azithromycin, erythromycin and telithromycin. Delirium was described in patients of various age groups, including children. Drug-drug interactions may have contributed to its occurrence in some of the cases. Average time to onset of delirium was 2.5 days for azithromycin and 3.3 days for clarithromycin.
Considering thacan lead to earlier discontinuation of the culprit drug, reduce time spent in a delirious state and improve patients' outcomes. KEY POINTS Cases of delirium which satisfied inclusion criteria were found for clarithromycin, azithromycin, erythromycin and telithromycin. HADA chemical concentration Cases of delirium were described in patients of various age groups, including children. Drug-drug interactions may have contributed to the occurrence of delirium in some of the cases. Time to onset of delirium ranged from 2 to 3.5 days (mean 2.5 days) for azithromycin and from 1 to 7 days (mean 3.3 days) for clarithromycin. Cessation of the macrolide antibiotic seems to be the best management strategy, although some of the patients may, in addition, require antipsychotics.
The Celebrate Safe approach is a collaboration between public health organisations and music event/venue organisers to encourage health promotion interventions in nightlife settings and at music events. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Celebrate Safe approach with regard to its impact on use of ear plugs among visitors of music events.
A pre-registered cluster-randomised controlled trial conducted at music events throughout the Netherlands (
= 15). In the experimental condition, event organisers were asked to share an online pre-event message about ear plugs, clearly indicate where visitors could buy ear plugs, and sell ear plugs at busy locations on the premises. Visitors were encouraged to wear ear plugs by means of an 'ear check' at the beginning of the event.
Observations to assess whether event visitors wear ear plugs (
 = 3836).
A multilevel model, taking into account nesting of visitors within events, revealed that use of ear plugs at music events in the experimental condition was higher in comparison to events in the control condition (23% vs. 14%, OR = 1.9, 95%CI 1.2-3.0,
 = 0.004).
The Celebrate Safe approach has a positive impact on use of ear plugs among visitors of music events.

Its suspicion is first and foremost clinical and his symptoms are diverse. The diagnosis is confirmed by imaging. Its management is surgical resection of the styloid process by trans-oral or trans-amygdala route. Patients often consult several specialists and there are many investigations before the right diagnosis is made.Fabry disease, an X-linked disease, results from a deficiency of the lysosomal enzyme alpha-galactosidase A, which causes glycosphingolipids accumulation in the body. On the basis of the residual enzymatic activity level, a classical, severe multisystemic form and an attenuated cardiac variant form are distinguished. In all cases, patients can develop hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in adulthood, the severity of which is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality of the disease. The cardiomyopathy is usually isolated in the cardiac variant form, the most common form of the disease, and should be suspected in the presence of relatively specific ECG, echocardiographic and MRI characteristics.Prevalence of burnout in physicians is increasing, affecting their health and satisfaction at work as well as quality and security of healthcare. Several causes have been identified, of which growing intensity of work, loss of meaning and feeling that healthcare structure reforms prevent one's job being done properly are the main reasons. New data shows an association between burnout and use of the yet widespread electronic health record. It has a proven impact on the multiple aspects of physician's work, and users' satisfaction is often mediocre. Hence, among the broad prevention field of physicians' burnout, specific measures related to the digital domain are needed. This article is the result of the joint work of psychiatrists-psychotherapists working with patients with gender dysphoria (children, adolescents and adults) in Lausanne and Geneva university hospitals. It emphasizes the importance of their clinical interventions when hormone therapy and sex reassignment surgery are requested.IgG4-related disease is a rare multi-organic inflammatory disease that frequently involves the ENT and head and neck areas. In these cases, salivary gland and lacrimal gland involvement is very common and includes enlargement, infiltration, and formation of pseudotumours. Diagnosis of IgG4 related disease remains a challenge and relies on several clinical, serological, radiological and histopathological criteria to differentiate from other diseases with similar clinical presentation. Histology reveals IgG4 positive lymphoplasmocytic infiltrates, storiform fibrosis and obliterative phlebitis. Glucocorticoids are the first line of treatment and can be combined with other immunosuppressants. The prognosis is favorable if treatment is initiated early. Recurrences are common. Delay in diagnosis can have severe multi-organic consequences.
