The synthesis of well-defined heterometallic complexes remains a frontier challenge in inorganic chemistry. We report an approach that relies on the sequential insertion of electrophilic metal fragments into electron-rich Ru-B bonds of the η2-BB-carboryne complex (POBBOP)Ru(CO)2 [POBBOP = 1,7-OP(iPr)2-m-2,6-dehydrocarborane]. Utilizing this synthetic strategy, bimetallic (POBBOP)(Ru)(CO)2[Pd(PtBu3)] and trimetallic (POBBOP)(Ru)(CO)2[Pd(PtBu3)](CuBr) complexes were selectively prepared. Structural and theoretical analysis of the features of chemical bonding within Ru-B-B-Cu and Ru-B-B-Pd fragments is presented. The degree of thermal anisotropy affects critically key device-relevant properties of layered two-dimensional materials. Here, we systematically study the in-plane and cross-plane thermal conductivity of crystalline SnSe2 films of varying thickness (16-190 nm) and uncover a thickness-independent thermal conductivity anisotropy ratio of about ∼8.4. Experimental data obtained using Raman thermometry and frequency domain thermoreflectance showed that the in-plane and cross-plane thermal conductivities monotonically decrease by a factor of 2.5 with decreasing film thickness compared to the bulk values. Moreover, we find that the temperature-dependence of the in-plane component gradually decreases as the film becomes thinner, and in the range from 300 to 473 K it drops by more than a factor of 2. Using the mean free path reconstruction method, we found that phonons with MFP ranging from ∼1 to 53 and from 1 to 30 nm contribute to 50% of the total in-plane and cross-plane thermal conductivity, respectively.BRD4 and other members of the bromodomain and extraterminal (BET) family of proteins are promising epigenetic targets for the development of novel therapeutics. Among the reported BRD4 inhibitors are dihydropteridinones and benzopyrimidodiazepinones originally designed to target the kinases PLK1, ERK5, and LRRK2. While these kinase inhibitors were identified as BRD4 inhibitors, little is known about their binding potential and structural details of interaction with the other BET bromodomains. We comprehensively characterized a series of known and newly identified dual BRD4-kinase inhibitors against all eight individual BET bromodomains. A detailed analysis of 23 novel cocrystal structures of BET-kinase inhibitor complexes in combination with direct binding assays and cell signaling studies revealed significant differences in molecular shape complementarity and inhibitory potential. Collectively, the data offer new insights into the action of kinase inhibitors across BET bromodomains, which may aid the development of drugs to inhibit certain BET proteins and kinases differentially. The unity of structure-property design and practical synthesis is a key to develop nonlinear optical (NLO) materials. However, many designed structures are hard to get because of the incapability of controlling the arrangement of structural motifs. After careful synthesis, we successfully obtained a new NLO crystal with expected properties, KWO3F, which features a long-range anion-ordered while directed parallel arrangement of [WO5F] d0 transition metal fluorooxo-functional (d0 [TMOF]) motifs. This arrangement is vital to achieve a strong second-harmonic generation (SHG) response, which is proved by dipole moment analyses and theoretical calculations. Remarkably, KWO3F possesses a strong phase-matching SHG response (3 × KDP), high thermal stability (stable up to 350 °C in air), a large laser damage threshold (LDT, 129.7 MW/cm2), a wide transparent window (0.5-10 μm), and a suitable birefringence (0.088 @ 1064 nm). Our research demonstrated that the introduction of the NLO-active d0 [TMOF] motif is an effective strategy to design new potential NLO materials.SiOx is an important dielectric material layer for resistive switching memory due to its compatibility with complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology. Here we propose a solution process for a SiOx dielectric layer based on perhydropolysilazane (PHPS). A series of SiOx layers with different compositions are prepared by controlling the conversion process from PHPS, then the resistance switching behaviors of typical Ag/SiOx/Au memristors are analyzed. The effect of oxygen vacancies and Si-OH groups on the formation and rupture of Ag conducting filaments (CFs) in the SiOx layer was thoroughly investigated. Ultimately, we achieved a high-performance memristor with a coefficient of variation (σ/μ) as low as 0.16 ± 0.08 and an on/off ratio as high as 106, which can rival the performance of the SiOx memristors based on the high-vacuum and high-cost vapor deposition methods. These findings demonstrate the high promise of the PHPS-derived SiOx dielectric layer in the field of memristors. The force required to detach a particle from a liquid-fluid interface is a direct measure of the capillary adhesion between the particle and the interface. Analytical expressions for the detachment force are available but are limited to nonrotating particles. In this work, we derive analytical expressions for the force required to detach a rotating spherical particle from a liquid-fluid interface. Our theory predicts that the rotation reduces the detachment force when there is a finite contact angle hysteresis between the particle and the liquid. For example, the force required to detach a particle with an advancing contact angle of 120° and a receding contact angle of 80° (e.g., polydimethylsiloxane particle at a water-air interface) is expected to be 25% lower when the particle rotates while it is detached.
Despite advances in surgery and intensive perioperative care, fecal peritonitis secondary to colonic perforation is associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality. This study was performed to review the outcomes of patients who underwent colonic perforation surgery and to evaluate the prognostic factors associated with mortality.
A retrospective analysis was performed on 224 consecutive patients who underwent emergency colonic perforation surgery between January 2008 and May 2019. We divided the patients into survivor and non-survivor groups and compared their surgical outcomes.
The most common cause of colon perforation was malignancy in 54 patients (24.1%), followed by iatrogenic perforation in 41 (18.3%), stercoral perforation in 39 (17.4%), and diverticulitis in 37 (16.5%). The sigmoid colon (n=124, 55.4%) was the most common location of perforation, followed by the ascending colon, rectum, and cecum. Forty-five patients (20.1%) died within 1 month after surgery. Comparing the 179 survivors with the 45 non-survivors, the patient characteristics associated with mortality were advanced age, low systolic blood pressure, tachycardia, organ failure, high C-reactive protein, high creatinine, prolonged prothrombin time, and high lactate level. The presence of free or feculent fluid, diffuse peritonitis, and right-sided perforation were associated with mortality. In multivariate analysis, advanced age, organ failure, right-sided perforation, and diffuse peritonitis independently predicted mortality within 1 month after surgery.
Age and organ failure were prognostic factors for mortality associated with colon perforation. Furthermore, right-sided perforation and diffuse peritonitis demonstrated a significant association with patient mortality.

This review explored health professions students; perceptions, acceptance, motivation, and engagement with e-learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines, a systematic review was conducted by consulting 5 databases PubMed, ERIC (Ebsco), Science Direct, Scopus, and Web of Science. The quality of the included studies was assessed using the Medical Education Research Study Quality Instrument. The research protocol was previously registered in the PROSPERO registry (CRD42021237055). From 250 studies identified, 15 were selected with a total of 111,622 students. Mostly positive perceptions were reported in 7 of 12 studies, which mainly focused on technology access, possession of basic computer skills, pedagogical design of online courses, online interactions, and learning flexibility. However, predominantly negative perceptions were identified in 5 of 12 studies, which pointed out constraints related to internet connections, the use of educational platforms, and acquisition of clinical skills. Satisfactory levels of acceptance of distance learning were reported in 3 of 4 studies. For student motivation and engagement, 1 study reported similar or higher motivation than with traditional teaching, and another study indicated that student engagement significantly increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. Health professions students showed a positive response to e-learning regarding perceptions, acceptance, motivation, and engagement. Future research is needed to remediate the lack of studies addressing health professions students' motivation and engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Healthcare professionals (HCP)' Burnout Syndrome (BS) has been a major concern, even more amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic. Adequate tools to assess BS are urgent. The objective of this study was the validation of the Brazilian Portuguese version of the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI) in HCP.
The sample consisted of 1054 Brazilian HCP. Data were collected for one month (May-2020 to June-2020) through an online self-administered questionnaire.
The three CBI dimensions presented optimal reliability. All consistency measures showed values > 0.90. Split-half correlation values with Spearman-Brown reliability were higher than 0.8. The parallel analysis suggested two factors personal burnout (PB) and work-related burnout (WB) items were associated with factor 1, and client-related burnout (CB) items were associated with factor 2.
Our study corroborates the validity of the Brazilian Portuguese version of the CBI, pointing to a close relation between PB and WB in HCP. A public domain tool that has the quality of evidence for sufficient content validity can aid in burnout evaluation, and encourage both the expansion of the research field as well as the accurate detection and treatment of this syndrome in Brazilian HCP.

To assess the influence of frame rate settings on longitudinal strain (LS) and mechanical synchrony (SYN) values in Speckle Tracking Echocardiography (STE) of healthy fetuses.
In this prospective study, we collected transversal or apical four-chamber-views of 121 healthy fetuses between 20 and 38weeks of gestation using three different frame rate (FR) settings (≥ 110, 100±10, 60±10 frames per second). We assessed the segmental and the global LS of both ventricles (2C) and of the left ventricle (LV) offline with QLab 10.8 (Philips Medical Systems, Andover, MA, USA
. Inter- and intraventricular SYN were calculated as time difference in peak myocardial strain between the mid-segments of left and right ventricle (interventricular, 2C_Syn) and lateral wall and septum of the left ventricle (intraventricular, LV_Syn), respectively.
In 84.3% STE was feasible at all three FR settings. The LS increased in both views at higher FRs to a statistically noticeable extent. SYN measurements and the absolute differences at patient level between the FR settings showed no statistically noticeable alterations.
