In the present study, using zebrafish as a study model, efficacy of the traditional Indian Ayurveda medicine "Yogendra Ras" (YDR) was validated in ameliorating drug-induced cardiac hypertrophy. YDR was prepared using traditionally described methods and composed of nano- and micron-sized metal particles. Elemental composition analysis of YDR showed the presence of mainly Au, Sn, and Hg. Cardiac hypertrophy was induced in the zebrafish following a pretreatment with erythromycin (ERY), and the onset and reconciliation of disease by YDR were determined using a treadmill electrocardiogram, heart anatomy analysis, C-reactive protein release, and platelet aggregation time-analysis. YDR treatment of CH-induced zebrafish showed comparable results with the Standard-of-care drug, verapamil, tested in parallel. Under in-vitro conditions, treatment of isoproterenol (ISP)-stimulated murine cardiomyocytes (H9C2) with YDR resulted in the suppression of drug-stimulated biomarkers of oxidative stress COX-2, NOX-2, NOX-4, ANF, troponin-I, -T, and cardiolipin. Taken together, zebrafish showed a strong disposition as a model for studying the efficacy of Ayurvedic medicines towards drug-induced cardiopathies. YDR provided strong evidence for its capability in modulating drug-induced CH through the restoration of redox homeostasis and exhibited potential as a viable complementary therapy.Energetic salts based on pentazolate anion (cyclo-N5-) have attracted much attention due to their high nitrogen contents. However, it is an enormous challenge to efficiently screen out an appropriate cation that can match well with cyclo-N5-. The vertical electron affinity (VEA) of the cations and vertical ionization potential (VIP) of the anions for 135 energetic salts and some cyclo-N5- salts were calculated by the density functional theory (DFT). The magnitudes of VEA and VIP, and their matchability were analyzed. The results based on the calculations at the B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) and B3LYP/aug-cc-pVTZ levels indicate that there is an excellent compatibility between cyclo-N5- and cation when the difference between the VEA of cation and the VIP of cyclo-N5- anion is -2.8 to -1.0 eV. The densities of the salts were predicted by the DFT method. Relationship between the calculated density and the experimental density was established as ρExpt = 1.111ρcal - 0.06067 with a correlation coefficient of 0.905. HDM201 This regression equation could be in turn used to calibrate the calculated density of the cyclo-N5- energetic salts accurately. This work provides a favorable way to explore the energetic salts with excellent performance based on cyclo-N5-.Biodegradable Mg alloys have appeared as the most appealing metals for biomedical applications, particularly as temporary bone implants. However, issues regarding high corrosion rate and biocompatibility restrict their application. Hence, in the present work, nanostructured clinoenstatite (CLT, MgSiO3)/tantalum nitride (TaN) was deposited on the Mg-Ca-Zn alloy via electrophoretic deposition (EPD) along with physical vapor deposition (PVD) to improve the corrosion and biological characteristics of the Mg-Ca-Zn alloy. The TaN intermediate layer with bubble like morphology possessed a compact and homogenous structure with a thickness of about 950 nm while the thick CLT over-layer (~15 μm) displayed a less compact structure containing nano-porosities as well as nanoparticles with spherical morphology. The electrochemical tests demonstrated that the as prepared CLT/TaN film is able to substantially increase the anticorrosion property of Mg-Ca-Zn bare alloy. Cytocompatibility outcomes indicated that formation of CLT and TaN on the Mg bare alloy surface enhanced cell viability, proliferation and growth, implying excellent biocompatibility. Taken together, the CLT/TaN coating exhibits appropriate characteristic including anticorrosion property and biocompatibility in order to employ in biomedical files.The goal of this study was to determine changes in contents of free amino acids, biogenic amines, and bioactive dipeptides (anserine and L-carnosine) in cheese models produced with the addition of nisin-producing strains of Lactococcus lactis over their ripening period. After 5 weeks of ripening, contents of total biogenic amines in the cheese models with the addition of L. lactis strains were lower than in the control cheese model. The cheese models examined differed significantly in contents of free amino acids through the ripening period. Individual free amino acids, such as ornithine, were found in some of the cheese models, which is indicative of their specific microbial activities. Both anserine and L-carnosine were detected in all variants of the cheese models. After 5-week ripening, the highest total content of bioactive dipeptides was determined in the cheese models produced with the nisin-producing culture of L. lactis 11454 (142.15 mg∙kg-1).There is a need for health professionals to provide parents with not only evidence-based child health websites but also instruments to evaluate them. The main aim of this research was to develop a questionnaire for measuring users' evaluation of the usability, utility, confidence, the well-child section, and the accessibility of a Spanish pediatric eHealth website for parents. We further sought to evaluate the content validity and psychometric reliability of the instrument. A content validation study by expert review was performed, and the questionnaire was pilot tested. Psychometric analyses were used to establish scales through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Reliability studies were performed using Cronbach's alpha and two split-half methods. The content validation of the questionnaire by experts was considered as excellent. The pilot web survey was completed by 516 participants. The exploratory factor analysis excluded 27 of the 41 qualitative initial items. The confirmatory factor analysis of the resultant 14-item questionnaire confirmed the five initial domains detected in the exploratory confirmatory analysis.
