Descemet stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK) and Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) were performed in 2075 (78.84%) and 557(21.16%) patients, respectively.
EK is commonly performed during the sixth decade of life and in males. The most performed procedure is DSEK. The commonest indication was post-cataract surgery corneal edema.

To assess the effects of 1,25 dihydroxyvitamin D
(vitamin D
) either alone or under oxidative damage on human retinal pigment epithelium cell lines.
The human retinal pigment epithelial cell lines were pretreated with hydrogen peroxide with different concentrations (100-1000μM) and durations (4, 12 and 24h) to determine the appropriate dose. A group of cells were treated with vitamin D
alone, and another group of cells were co-treated with different concentrations of (10-100nM) vitamin D
and hydrogen peroxide. Anti-cytotoxic, anti-apoptotic and anti-genotoxic effects of vitamin D
on the hydrogen peroxide treated cell line were evaluated. In addition, mitochondrial membrane potentials of treated cell lines were measured.
Vitamin D
showed statistically significant anti-cytotoxic effects and increased cell viability in all concentrations (p < 0.001). It has also significantly decreased the intracellular ROS generation at concentrations between 10-60nM and increased intracellular reactive oxygen species in high doses over 90nM (p < 0.01). When apoptosis was evaluated, vitamin D
caused statistically significant decrease in a dose-dependent manner (p < 0.001). In terms of DNA damage which was caused by oxidative stress, it was observed that vitamin D
significantly reduced the damage in a dose-dependent manner (p < 0.001). At the doses of 10-50nM, vitamin D
significantly decreased the mitochondrial membrane potential (p < 0.01).
Our study suggests that 1,25 (OH)
D3 is capable for alleviating the oxidative damage in ARPE cell lines. With these results, vitamin D is thought to be a therapeutic alternative for the prevention of age-related macular degeneration. This warrants further investigations.

Identification of infected healthcare workers (HCWs) is an important step in severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) transmission control. Rapid antigen tests (RATs) are considered an important addition to molecular tests in diagnosing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), mainly because of their fast turnaround time, easier analytical procedure and lower price. However, real-life studies on the usefulness of such testing for screening of HCWs are limited.
Physicians, nurses and hospital attendants currently working at the University Clinic of Respiratory and Allergic Diseases Golnik were invited to participate in the pilot study. Nasopharyngeal swabs were obtained three times per week for two consecutive weeks and tested with a point-of-care RAT and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Serum samples were obtained at the beginning of the study and 2weeks after the last swab was collected to evaluate the serological status.
A total of 191 nasopharyngeal swabs fromHCWs already during the presymptomatic stage. Trial registration number NCT04716088, 19.1.2021, retrospectively registered.
Dilated cardiomyopathy(DCM) is a disease of the heart muscle characterized by ventricular dilation and a left ventricular ejection fraction of less than 40%. Unlike hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC), DCM-causing mutations are present in a large number of genes. In the present study, we report a case of the early age of onset of DCM associated with a pathogenic variant in the RBM20 gene in a patient from India.
A 19-year-old Indian male diagnosed with DCM was suggested for heart transplantation. His ECG showed LBBB and echocardiography showed an ejection fraction of 14%. He had a sudden cardiac death. A detailed family history revealed it to be a case of familial DCM. Genetic screening identified the c.1900C>T variant in the RBM20 gene which led to a missense variant of amino acid 634 (p.Arg634Trp).
To the best of our knowledge, the variant p.Arg634Trp has been earlier reported in the Western population, but this is the first case of p.Arg634Trp in an Indian patient. The variant has been reported to be pathogenic at an early age of onset; therefore, close clinical follow-up should be done for the family members caring for the variant.

LCL161 To our knowledge, this study is the first to explore both implicit and explicit attitudes of human resources directors/employers regarding potential employees who have experienced depression. Methods 219 human resources directors/employers answered a semi-structured interview, as well as self-report questionnaires, assessing their implicit and explicit attitudes on hiring people who have experienced depression. Explicit attitudes were assessed with self-report measures (questionnaire), whereas implicit attitudes were measured by qualitatively rating automatic mental associations (free associations). Qualitative and quantitative analyses were conducted on implicit and explicit attitudes. Results For implicit attitudes, both stereotypes and normalization attitudes were mentioned by employers. In order to ensure the validity of the explicit attitudes measure, a confirmatory factor analysis was conducted, and revealed that employers and HR's attitudes were, as expected, described by the 12 items spread out on three conceptual dimensions-Stereotypes, Organizational Burden, and Normalization, with satisfactory alpha coefficients for all subscales.
